Yup,  I finally got hold of the woman who I've been working with and all the planets aligned just right with the sun.  She set me up for tomorrow at 9:30 AM.  But wait...  Something's wrong...  Now what?

My phone is going off.  What's this?  Oh NO!  I scheduled that sleep study for tomorrow night.  I can't do a meylogram in the morning and a sleep study at night!  They want me flat for 24 hours after the meylogram.

I really don't want to reschedule the sleep study AGAIN!  I've alreay rescheduled it twice.  Once was my fault and once was theirs.  No way I do I want to call them back and tell them I just scheduled a meylogram over their study.  Besides, I want to get my CPAP machine and start to sleep better.  Maybe.  Probably.  Hopefully.

My friend Buzz was going to come get me about 8:00 AM and although it's only about 30 miles down there, with trafic at that time of day, we were leaving an hour and a half for the drive.  Hopefully the drive back wouldn't have been as long.  Although they keep me flat there for 4 hours, and then I'm supposed to stay flat for 24 hours at home.  I probably won't do the full 24 hours but I probably will try to stay down the rest of the day, getting up for meals and bathroom only.

The reason the planets have to align and the sun has to be in the right place is that this radiologist is fast and has at least a little bit of empathy.  Or anyway, supposedly he does and that's why the person who set me up with him waited until his schedule matched up with Buzz's; so I could have this particular radiologist do the procedure.  He and one other of the radiologists they have on staff are the ones with the experience and the flexibility to be able to work with me.  Remember, the last time I tried this, the baby radiologist I got would only inject the dye if I was supine on the anterior position so he had access to the posterior lumbar area.  Of course that meant I had to lay on my stomach.  I can't do that without a lot of pain.  Soooooo, I called it off.  I've never had a doctor insist that I had to lay on my stomach for the injection, and I've had 8 of these things.

Anyway, I'll call the scheduling person again tomorrow.  I don't have a clue when the planets and the sun will all be in alignment again, but I am working on it.   See?  LOL

Love and hugs,

Dan

Heh, heh.  I'm dead meat.  Boy, you ladies are really into violence.

The meylogram is re-scheduled for November 14th.    So there.

I really didn't feel right about re-scheduling the sleep study.  I've put it off twice now.  Well, I put it off once.  They screwed it up once.  They had me down for last Saturday, and I had me down for last Sunday night. So I showed up at the sleep center 24 hours late, according to them.  The thing is, I would never schedule a sleep study for a Saturday night because of church on Sunday.  I'm not sure I could get out of there, get home and get my exercise in and get a shower and get dressed and get out of the house in time to get to church on time, even if they got me up at 5 AM.  I can barely make it if I start at home.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.    And you can't beat a confession of anything else out of me, no matter how you try...

Hugs and lots of love,

Dan

Oh Dan, what are you going to do next. I don't know you as well as the other ladies but seems like you are shirking. Get that myleogram done so it can help you have less pain when they can see the problem. Good luck on the sleep study. Tom and I had one done last year. We both have sleep apnea. Tom is doing great with the cpap. He sleeps like a baby all through the night. It didn't work for me. I have claustrophobia an couldn't stand the mask on my face so had to quit using it as it was keeping me awake all night. Hope you have a good pain day and get that mess done!!  lots of love gramanan

You hear me????  And I'm the nice one...Just wait until the other ladies get a hold of ya, then you'll really get it! LOL

I am afraid to go to the dentist to have a crown put on, because I hated the nerve pain when he worked on my tooth.  That was over a year ago.
I can imagine if you are afraid, with all you have been through, you have a good reason.  But I really hope you do go through with the next appointment Dan, if it will help you get better.
Is there any other test that can show what is going on, that won't torture you?
Can you get hypnotized or something?  To not be afraid and to forget all about the pain right away?

I knew you were gonna pull a stunt like this. I'm not speaking to you until you've had the myelogram done!

Ladies.....Daniel wimped out!!!! Figured he was going to do that....now we'll see IF he goes to the Nov. 14th appointment.  See what 'excuse' he comes up with to cancel (or postpone) that appointment.....lol.  People change appointments all the time....sure the sleep study center is used to that.

Time will tell!!!!  You better NOT change that appointment on the 14th, Dan....or else you will have LOTS of company at your doorstep....and it ain't going to be GOOD either!!!!

We care about you.....but you don't make it easy, Dan....lol.

Sheesh.  Give me a break here.  I'm not THAT afraid of the darn thing.  I just don't want to do it.  Remember, this is number 8 or 9 for me.  It's not like I haven't done them time and time again.

It's re-scheduled for three weeks from now, and that's really not a bad thing completely.  I hadn't been able to find out where the pump is enterning my spinal column.  They don't want to inject me at the same level as where the catheter is entering, which makes sense.  After all, they could puncture the catheter that way, and that could cause it to leak, thereby causing a decrease in the amount of medication reaching my spinal cord.

This gives me time to get ahold of the Medtronic people and if need be, the surgeon who did the revision about 5 years ago.  Jeez.  I can't even remember his name.

So relax.   This is not all bad.  LOL  Gosh, ya'll are worse than having a bunch of wives.  Is this what it's like to be a polygamist?  I'll never convert to Mormanism at this rate.  LOLOLOL    I mean, I've even got "the nice one" on my case.  LOLOL

But I do love ya'll.

Dan

PS.  This is the only test that will image what's going on with the spinal cord.  I can't do an MRI due to the stainless steel plate at T5, T6 and T7.  It bends the image too much.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing...thanks for that, I needed a good laugh today .  We are just being stern because we love you, and want you to go through with this test.  We'll be thinking about you in 3 weeks!  Hopefully you can get the information you need before then!

What did the sleep study reveal? Hopefully something they can fix, would be nice!

Well heck.  My husband and son left this morning to go pick up a pinball machine in Dallas and they KNEW I was planning to go so I could go and beat up Dan and they left without me!  They claimed I over slept!  I think they were taking up for Dan.  I just think they didn't want me to beat him up for cancelling his myelogram.  That's okay, I'm going to Tulsa on December 5th for the Trace Adkins concert.  If he doesn't keep his November appointment, then after I see Trace Adkins on December 5th, I'm getting Trace to come with me on the way home and we're going to swing through Dallas and take care of Dan.  That's the plan.  So Dan, you're on notice.  Keep the myelogram appointment or Trace Adkins, my concert buddy, and myself are paying you a visit on December 6th.

How does that sound ladies?  Will that work?

Ahhh, the sleep study.  Yeah.  Well, it turns out I'm one of the 1% of the population who can't seem to wear any of the face masks.  Even the nasal canula doesn't work very well on me because I apparently open my mouth every now and then, which causes it to blow air back into my throat.  That causes me to start to cough, which wakes me up.

Finally, the tech (who wasn't nearly as nice as the last tech) put a chin strap on me.  I didn't think I would be able to tolerate that, but I did just fine with it, and slept pretty good until my back chased me out of bed about 4:30, which is about my regular time to get up.

Then he tells me I have to stay hooked up for another hour and a half, because it took him soo long to get me hooked up the night before.  Gosh, isn't that swell?  He said otherwise  Medicare wouldn't pay for it, he had to have at least 6 hours of data.  It turned out he didn't actualy get me hooked up and calibrated until 11:40 and I was there at 9:30.  <sigh>  Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.  THEN he tells me he doesn't have enough data since it took him so long to figure out about me opening my mouth.  I'm going to go have another one of those studies.

I told him I didn't think so.  It's too expensive for one thing.  And for another, we would just get the same results.  So why do it over?  Then, this guy, the same guy who hit me up for a $110 payment the minute I walked into the door told me, "You're on Medicare.  They pay 100%."

Go figure, huh?

Hugs and lots of love,

Dan

Cyndy,
He lives in the Dallas area doesn't he?  I didn't necessarily mean "Dallas" per se, I meant the Dallas area.  I'm used to generalizing "Dallas" when referring to it because we live so close to it.  Sorry, I should have made myself a bit more clear.  I'll make sure to get his full address from you if and when I have to go there to whoop up on him for not keeping his myelogram appointment.  Better yet, maybe I need to go there and personally DELIVER him to the appointment. lol

We DO care!!

Two more weeks to the meylogram and counting.  <>  And my shorts are just fine, thank you very much.

Actually, I do really feel bad about not going ahead with the meylogram.  I kinda feel like I let everyone down or something.  I thought I was doing the right thing in keeping the previously made appoinment.

But what's done is done.  I can only go on from here.  And, like I said, it does give me some time to try to find out about where the catheter enters my spinal canal.  That will make the meylogram go easier.  And every little bit helps.

Hugs and lots of love,

Dan
