My dad once said to me, "if you would make a man your friend, let him do you a favor."
Smart man my dad. At the time I thought he was crazy. But then I learned he was right. Letting others help you doesn't make you beholden to them. Somehow, it seems to just make you more human to them and they feel like they're a better person for helping you.
