I am soooo glad to report that the occipital neuralgia which arose after the reconstruction of my cervical spine, and after such intensive investigation via CTs, MRIs & examinations, has mysteriously departed. maybe not so mysterious as 9 days ago, after my 6-month post surgery check-up, my surgeon said i could start back in on Celebrex. Within 6 days, the neck/head pain seemed to go away so, it seems, the neuralgia may have been an inflamitory process which is not being controlled by the anti-inflamitory drug. My response: HOORAY! May it remain so. Now if only i can get off the opioids..... i wish only good and pain free days to all.

That's WONDERFUL news, Murray! I'm so happy for you, but I'm absolutely certain I'm not NEARLY as happy as you are! : ) What took your doctor so long to put you on the anti-inflammatory, anyway? Stupidity?

Cyndy

Cyndy: not "studpidity": cautious. It seems that NSAIDS slow down healing, especially after major surgery so he took me off Celebrex 2 weeks prior to surgery and for 6 months after, making certain that the radiology studies showed that healing was complete. As much as i was not happy about it, i understood and went along with it. Thanks for your response.

That's great.  Celebrex is a great medication.

Oh that is good news indeed! For those who can tolerate the anti inflammatories, they can bring lots of relief. And if you can get off the opioids, then that would even be better. But take it a day at a time and go off slowly. Anyways, that is what they recommend. But wow, such great news and great progress! Keep it up and keep us posted! LOL, reading things like this gives me some hope too!
