I have after a year finally am going to have the GI Doctor go in and do a Electroultrasoundscope done I think thats what it is called....but during my visit with the Gi Doctor ....she was consulting with some other doctor about me and he comes into the room condesending(@#%hole).....says some porphyria's don't even show up unless your in an attack.......I reply yea......and he says back so what of this porphyria thing???his tone all pissed off cause I have this rare disease.......in other words he might have to learn something.....then he starts tearing into my pain meds like a thats alot of pain meds what do you need all those pain meds you take.......Icorrected him and let him know that my lyrica and cymbalta and trazadone all deal with pain so what's his point......I was so frustrated......I am going to complain about him.....I have to meet with the anthesialogist cause he needs to go over what he can use to put me under......when we have the procedure done......they said I could be kept in the hospital cause my pancreas might not like what they did....mainly cause it's inflamed they can tell by feeling my stomache and where I say owe.......it's just frustarting these doctors......thats why I want the genectic test done on the DNA so I can shove that in his face when he says so what of this porphyria..........Dale

Hi Dale, I don't know much about the disease you have but I sure can identify with condescending doctors. I always have to be on the verge of death before they get serious and figure out what my problem is. Sure hope the test will show what you need to know. I say a prayer for the group every day in my prayer time and will add you to the list. Prayer can work when nothing the doctors do can. Just keep on hanging in there. lots of love gramanan

thank-you both so much....I know if anybody's going to understand it is my group.....I won't let him get away with it either.....I will complain........stupid jerk......thats why we have to arm are selves with amo paperwork lab results medical records etc.........all to shut the arogant doctor up........When I go into the anthesia doc I'm bringing paperwork.....it's from Up to Date . com which doctors and patients can use....some areas you can not get into unless you are a doctor....anyways again thanks......I love you guys.................................Dale

I'd complain as well. Obviously forgot that he treat human beings not pieces of them.

What a terrible attitude? If he doesn't understand your condition, then he shouldn't question your medication.

I have a hand-out for my doctors. I typed it up with all the medications, and all the doctors I see. I have a family history on it as well.

I hand it to the doctors when I go in, and most of them seem to be accepting of it. It helps to get right to the heart of the matter.

I hate going to doctors, and I've had the odd experience like you just had, and it upsets me greatly.

It occurs to me you might complain directly to the doctor. See what he does. Just type up a letter and send it to him telling him that you felt he was cold and condescending and that he had no right to treat you like that. See what he does. He might appologize, and that could save you having to write the second letter to the AMA board.

You must be reading my mind Dan.....I want it to go directly to him.....I just want to know if there is a grievance form ...I know I spelled that wrong.....I want to be that thorn in his side you might say....I guess I got a call from the GI office in regards to the procedure being done.......aaaaahhhhhh after Thanks Giving...................................................Dale
