There are still too many doctors that think fibromyalgia is a catchall term for pain of undetermined origin, meaning they don't have a clue what's causing it. That doesn't make it any less real! The fact that so many people get significant relief from pain medication should make them realize that there IS something causing that pain. In my opinion, anyone suffering for years from untreated pain would be a fool NOT to be depressed, so any doctor who says "You're depressed" is blithely stating the obvious. Well, yeah, doc, you would be, too, if you were in our shoes! A lot of people are getting significant relief from Lyrica for treatment of fibromyalgia now; I don't know if you've tried it or not, but it's worth asking your new internist if she can give you some samples to try since some similar medications had a bad effect on you. There's not much point in filling an expensive prescription until you know it's going to help.

Cyndy
