Here's my story.  In September 2005 I was involved in a car accident.  I was driving about 55 mph when a car pulled out in front of me.  As a result of the accident I had a traumatic disc herniation at the C-5/6 level.  I had my first surgery about 6 months after the accident and my second surgery a year after the first.  I am considered a surgical failure.  So I have permanent nerve damage in the left neck and shoulder plus chronic, constant muscle spasms in my neck.  I was just put on disability by 2 doctors so I am beginning the SSD process.  That's pretty much it, I guess.  I deal with chronic pain at about a 7 or 8 every day and I deal with the depression and anxiety associated with it.

Becky:
Sorry to hear about your accident and your subsequent surgeries.  I'm sorry that both were a failure.  I've had lumbar surgeries done, along with 3 cervical surgeries, with fusion at 3 levels...and, thank God, mine was successful and left me pretty much free from the pain I had before the surgery.  I had severe bicep pain and the pain was terrible...as  you can imagine.

I hope you are seeing a pain managment doctor for these problems; they are usually the best when it comes to dealing with chronic pain.  You have very high pain levels every day, as you already know...and they should be brought down...even with narcotics.  Not sure if you've tried any procedures, but they might help a little bit, too.

Anyway, wanted you to know that I read your story, and can emphatize with you.  Hopefully, you will get your pain levels down to where you can at least lead a semi 'normal' life.  We know that's tough...lol.  Hang in there!!
Hugz,
Dee

Hi Becky, I'm new to the group too. They are great. I'm so sorry that you are having so much pain. It's difficult to deal with at times but hang in there. Hopefully they will find something that will work with your pain. this is a great group, they support you when you are down or having a bad day and are just so kind. Hang in there and I'll remember you in my prayers. lol gramanan
