Hi I tried to post when I first joined but MSN kept messing me up.  After typing for over 1/2 hr. I just didn't want to try again.  I forgot I never posted my Bios.  I am a 57 yr. young mother of 5 grown children and Nana of 7.  I have restless leg syndrome that also effects my arms.  My doctor said there is a pill (I forgot the name of it) that would give me more relief than I get now but they cost $10.00 each and I would have to take one a day.  I already spent $200.00 a month on other meds and thats with the free samples he gives me.  I have muscle cramps everyday. At night it is the worse. I can't sleep when I get the spasms even though he put me on a sleeping pill.  I take Vitamin B1 for my CNS, Sinemet which they give to pts. with Parkinson Disease, Flexeril every 6 hours, I also take xanax.  Then I take OTC meds like Tylenol 1000mg every 6 hours, Asprin(SP?) 975mg every 4 hours and Motrin 800mg every 8 hours.  Nothing helps. The doctor said that a pill will not help all of the time and that I am getting 50% relief from the pain and sleeping well 2-3 nights a week that's the best we can expect.  He also said that no one ever died from pain or lack of sleep.  I would change doctors but he supplies me with meds that would cost me hundreds of dollars.  I am on disability and what I have to spent now really takes a big part of my income.  I have tried to get state funding but they say I'm not eligible.  So what's a person to do?  Hugs LittleAngel/Suzy

Sorry you are having so much pain...and sorry you are having to "rely" on a doctor that doesn't feel that "pain and no sleep" ever killed anyone!!! He should come into some of these sites and see what happens to people who go through those things.  There have been numerous people who have "died" from pain...yes, their own choosing; but you could say it did "kill them"!

Anyway, one thing that concerns me is the amount of Tylenol and aspirin you are taking daily...it seems to be a lot!!!  I guess  your doctor is aware you are taking this much...but it could cause so many problems with your liver and kidneys, etc. - not to mention bleeding internally. I know it is hard for you to get prescriptions on your own; can you possibly be eligible for " pharmaceutical assistance" and free meds???  There is a place on the sidebar that lists some of the companies that participate in this program...and you could talk to your doctor about it.  It might be better than taking all that acetaminophen and aspirin.....and since you say you are "getting about 50% relief" you might be better with a narcotic pain reliever.  Have you tried talking to your doctor about this????

I hope you get some relief...but sure don't want to see  you having more problems because of all the OTC meds you are taking.  Hang in there and hope you can get the doc to prescribe something else for you.

My Doctor won't prescribe narcotics he has a pain management team at a local Rehab center but he has never suggested that I go to it.  Even if he did I couldn't go there because the Dr. that runs the team was someone I worked for years ago and we don't get along. To say he hates me isn't even enough.  He doesn't like people who can think for themselves and we were always butting heads over issues.  I just don't know what to do anymore. Hugs LittleAngel
