Okay, well, it's Sunday, noon - day 3 with the 4 grandkids. Holy shamoly! What a weekend. The usual stuff with kids - who will eat what, who needs help on the potty, (me) insisting on naps/quiet time. But, last night, the 2-year old didn't fall asleep until almost midnight; the 4-year old (boy) wet the bed at 2:30 a.m., even though we went potty before going to bed. It was so bad, he got his sister sleeping next to him drenched, too. I got kids cleaned, sheets changed & got back to bed @ 3:30 a.m. Then, at 6:30 a.m., the oldest woke up and woke up 2 more, so it was time for me to get up. DH has MS, is basically a quadriplegic and has a catheter implanted - however, it must have plugged in the night, because he was wet, too! So, more sheets to clean, baths for everyone and by the time I got everyone fed & dressed, it is now lunch time! In the midst of all this, I got a phone call from my dad, who let me know my mom is out of the hospital and doing well. (She had surgery for a twisted colon & they found & repaired a hernia while they were in there.) I just needed a few minutes to myself and thought I'd check in - thanks for letting me vent! Whoopi |

Sounds like you need more than a few minutes. At least you got good news about your mom. Hang in there, you sound like a super grandma. Enjoy them while their young, they grow up too fast. Rest/Rest and more rest, when they leave. Mia |

To bad I don't live nearby as I would give you a hand as well Whoopi. By the way, where exactly do you live in the Willamette valley? I use to live in Oregon and lived all over the state. Hope you can get a chance to get a breather soon! Darc |

Good grief, Charlie Brown! After reading all that, I felt like I needed a "lie down" myself! I hope you get some rest soon and all the rest works out really soon for you. |

It's 10:40 p.m., and I have the rest of the evening to myself! This afternoon, the 4-year old (Ky) wanted to snuggle - ("not nap, Ammy") - and then he promptly fell asleep! The baby (Riley) sat next to her older sister, who read her a book, and the baby fell asleep. That left the 2 oldest - the 7 year old (Maddy) and the 5 year old (Lily). I convinced them we needed 'quiet time' - they didn't have to take a nap, they were allowed to read, but no t.v./no talking. Lily eventually fell asleep, but Maddy never gave in - although, she was quiet the whole time & I got a nap, too! Once rested, I was up to having everyone to dinner, and had a really nice evening. My son & his fiance were here (her birthday today) & so when my daughter and sil got home, it just morphed into a family dinner. I must admit, I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow (for a little R&R, lol!). whoopi |
