I read an article today about a woman who is due with her 18th child in January. Her oldest is 20 and her youngest is 9 months old but she is also now 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. What do you think of this situation? I know it's a personal decision for a man and woman to have the amount of children they want but how do you feel over this? She said they will have as many as God allows. She also homeschools all the kids. |

I personally think 18 kids is way to many. LOL! Wow! Always pregnant is sure hard on the body. I would love to know how she homeschools that many kids. I homeschooled mine through elementary school and that was enough doing two. Anita- Thanks for the info. |

What I am about to say will probably be very unpopular but here goes. I think having this many children is disgusting. I have seen the TLC specials about this family and am not convinced the emtional needs of this many children can be met by the parents. And while their physical needs seem to be met what if something happens to mom and dad, who is left to raise this brood? Where will the emotional and yes, financial, resouces come from then? How will college educations be paid for with this many kids? And how about the medical bills? Don't insurance companies have yearly and lifetime caps on benefits? Once those are met, are taxpayers footing the bills? It seems to me mom and dad are fulfilling their own needs for attention procreating this heavily. Mom is a woman, not a brood sow and dad is just a man, not some kind of, well I don't even know what I would call him. I will be very interested to see where these children end up in life and what they have to say about being part of large family once they are grown and have left the nest. Just my thoughts. I agree with Bernadette. Gone are the days that a family needed to have a large famil to work the farm- and that you had many children because the mortality rate was so high. A lot of people say it's Ok if they can afford them... well ,the parents might be able to afford them, but the planet can't. I think it's irresponsible. |

Good comments and things to think about. I wonder how her medical insurance handels the bunch. My insurance charges for two kids then the rest is free. I can't see an insurance company winning with 18 kids if their policy is like mine. |

I think nowadays it is impossible to bring up 18 kids the way it should be done.Food is expensive, medicines are expensive and so are doctors.I think it is irresponsible to bring so many people to the world in the 21st century. |

Ok My Opinion,
First of all, "commercial washer/dryer, commercial appliances for kitchen"?? What community service supplied this? It surely wasn't the parents. And what community service is assisting with the food? The food basket for the poor? And... YOU are supplying the medical for these kids. Think about it, DCFS has guidelines for dependents of parents with low income. You can't tell me that this father makes enough money to NOT be over the poverty line when he has to feed/cloth all them kids. I think these people are abusing the system/government poverty programs/ local pantries/ churches, etc. to gain for their ignorance and greed. Again: only my opinion |
