I am trying to find information about Joseph Cook and ancestors.

The following is from his marriage cert and birth cert of his son Joseph, my father
Joseph was born abt 1882 at Bradford, Manchester, Lancs.
He married Edith Butler nee Davies 17 July 1915 at Parish Church, Shotton, Co. Durham.
He was a Miner (Stone Man) in 1915 and 1923 (Cert Dates)

I have been unable to locate him in the 1901 census or in FreeBMD

Further undocumented and unconfirmed information:
He is thought to have served in the Grenedere Guards during WWI
He is thought to have been a member of The Salvation Army.

I will be grateful to anyone providing sourced information or directing me to possible data sources.

The cert states Bradford, Manchester.
There is an area of Manchester that is called Bradford.  http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Bradford/
It is adjacent to Ardwick.

I have also checked Lancs BMD.  They don't have a Joseph Cook born M/cr bet. 1881-1883.

Fran,

Don't think this is my Joseph Cook.
On my Joseph's marriage cert the fathers name is given as Thomas Cook.

Regards,

Brian

Fran,

Unfortunately not.  I can't think of any other sources.
Perhaps it is time to analyse the available options and select the best fit.
It goes against my best instincts and breaks my rule of multiple sources ... but ...

I may research Manchester Registry Office.
It may be they have BMD records that havn't been keyed in FreeBMD or Lancs BMD.
Otherwise I have a brick wall.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Brian
