James Duck is one person I hit a brick wall with in my tree - he was born between 1766-1768 in Radford, Nottingham and died 30/7/1824 in the same place. He married Mary Barsby (B 8/5/1770; D 13/5/1845) on 28/11/1791 in Nottingham. James and Mary are my GGGG great grandparents.

This is where my line seems to finish - I can't accurately find a birth date for James and have been unsuccessful in finding parent details.

Any help would be so welcomed. I have been told that the name DUCK has been traced back to 1602 when Queen Elizabeth I approved a coat of arms to Nicholas Duck of Lincolins Inn, Devon. There have also been claims that the name has been traced back to 1215. Unfortunately I have not found anything beyond James above!

Hi Cherie

I happened to have this link in my Favourites, as I have relations by the name of Ledger - William Ledger who was married to Sarah Finucane.

Mary Duck may not be related to you at all, but thought I would send anyway for your interest.

Will keep searching.

Marian
