Would anybody have any information about my McMullen ancestors who lived for a time in Fallohogey? (spelling) Road  The picture shows one of their descendants during a trip to the area but I do not have much to go on.  The names were James and Annie (nee Keenan) and they had about 8 children, one of which was my grandmother, Charlotte McMullan who later married Joseph McAteer.  I would like to trace this particular line back if I could.  Appreciate any assistance please.

Hi,

I wonder if this may be your line:-  Mother Margaret, Kids Joseph McAteer b.& bap Dec 1885 according to church records.  Wed Charlotte McMullan dau, Margaret ‘Maggie?McAteer b. 1919 Portglenone Co Antrim.

This girl was left behind in Ireland when the rest of her family emigrated to Australia in 1920s It is believed she was still alive in 1930

I am sure Alexander Quinn below is part of this line and I seek information on the link.  Alexander Quinn served in the US regular army forces at the Boxer Rebellion died on active service in the Philippines during 1906.

Please contact

Regards Laura

Hi Kathleeen
I looked to see if I could find the births of James McMullan and Annie Keenan prior to searching for their children. I only found one birth record for a James in Co Londonderry as follows:

Record Type Civil Birth
Date of Birth 18 Jul 1870
Name James MCMULLAN
Gender M
Fathers Name John MCMULLAN
Mothers Forenames Catherine
Mothers Maiden Name DEVIN
Civil District  Londonderry
Sub District Clondermot
County Londonderry

This would have made him aged 18 when he married.  I found a few in Co Antrim:

1868 James MCMULLAN M Parents: Malcom, Jane, Ballymoney Antrim

1869 James MCMULLAN M Parents:William, Susanna, Ballymena Antrim

1869 James MCMULLAN M Parents: Hugh ,Ballymena, Antrim

1870 James MCMULLAN M Parents: Denis, Mary, Ballymoney Antrim

I did not find any Anne Keenan births in Co Londonderry and only one in Co Antrim:

Record Type Civil Birth
Date of Birth 5 Mar 1870
Name Anne KEENAN
Gender F
Fathers Name Hugh KEENAN
Mothers Forenames Jane
Mothers Maiden Name MCMEEKIN
Civil District  Larne
Sub District Larne
County Antrim

Cheers
Teri

Do you have any idea of the names of any of Charlotte's brothers and sisters? This might give us a clue to James and Anne's parents' names and we could then try to work out if any of these were the right births.

Cheers
Teri

Thank you so much for this info I suppose if we could find the death records for James and Ann(i)e it could show parents to help confirm the correct one.

Did you manage to find records of their children's births?

Thanks for all this too.

Re James and Annie's children apparently there were 2 Charlottes, one dying before my grandmother Charlotte was born. I'll have a look in my records to see if I have the other children's names - I think there were 8 of them.

I have now come across some more information about my McMullan ancestors
The first Charlotte born to James McM and Annie nee Keenan was born 10 Jan 1892 Dwelling place of father stated as Killans  Registered in the District of Dirraw Ballymoney  on 15 Jan 1892  This child apparently died and my grandmother also called Charlotte was born 2 Feb 1893   Another sibling Thomas Henry born 3 Jun 1902 Fallahogey registered in the district of Kilrea on 14 Jun 1902  There are other siblings probably Maggie, Jeannie, Joe and others.
I would be so grateful if anyone can look up birth records for Charlotte's siblings and just about anything else possible for these ancestors.  Death records for James and Annie McM would be great to show their parents etc.
Thanks in advance.
