Hi All,
i need help in trying to find information on Ellen McEvoy who was born in Orange,n.s.w about 1853.She also went by the name of Nellie. and married Roy Dennis Dwyer .Her father was Richard McEvoy and he was a storekeeper in Orange but was born in Port Arlington, Ireland. Can anyone tell me where in Ireland this is and how do i find when he arrived in Australia.
Thanks.

Robacrobac
I checked a very old bdm index for NSW and the child Ellen McEVOY with parents Richard & Ellen born 1852 was christened in the Roman catholic church, Bathurst, Kelso, St. Michaels
The record listed is her christening record and not her actual birth record
Bathurst is near Orange so very likely this is your Ellen
Have checked some immigration indexes and the only Richard McEVOY I found arrived in 1856.
They are not listed on the bounty immigrant index
They may have arrived in any state
The NSW, victorian and queensland bdm indexes are online and there is limited SA indexes up to 1850
If you need the web address for these sites let me know but you can find them doing a google search
The NSW ones are under the state records NSW site
Their arrival could also be under a wrong spelling of surname
Liz

Thank you Abeliz, i appreciate your help..
I have Anne Mcevoys birth cert 6th april 1860 in Orange  and she has sisters Catherine age 18,Ellen age 7 ,Eliza age 3 and brothers Edward 15 and richard 13. All children of Richard and Ellen nee coshy or costly this name is hard to read. They were married in 1941 in Port Arlington, ireland.
Is there a site that tells you who left Ireland for Australia ? I have only started my overseas searching so am not familiar with the sites yet.
Thanks again.

Hello

If you would like me to look at the certificate I might be able to decipher Richard's wife's maiden name for you.  I can try anyway.  Feel free to scan it to me at [email protected]

Robacrpbac   I don't have records from the Irish end for immigrants but I do have the australian immigration indexes
On the NSW state records you can check other miscellaneous indexes as well
I also have bounty immigrants on cd from 1828-1842 but this is probably a bit early for your family

The assisted & unassisted victoria = some of the unassisted also came on to NSW

queensland assisted immigrants
