Hello and thank you for accepting me into your group. I am trying to find a marriage for John/Edward Dunne to Mary Wilson possibly in Carlow sometime in 1820. Their daughter Mary Dunne married Richard Connors in Ballyhale Kilkenny in 1852 but I have no certificate for this. Mary and Richard emigrated to Australia on the ship Sabrina in 1855. The shipping records give Mary's parents as Edward Dunne and Mary and her age as 28 making her birth circa 1827 and her birth place as Carlow. Her Death certificate gives her father as John Dunne, farmer and mother Mary Wilson and her  birthplace Ireland. I have had no luck finding a marriage for her parents or if there were any siblings so am hoping you may be able to help me with this. Many thanks.
Noelene

It Does look like the Marriage For John Dunne and Mary Wilson was in Limerick
The Birth record says 1830 I THINK THAT SHOULD BE  1831

Church Marriage Dunne John 1831 Co. Limerick
Church Marriage Wilson Mary 1831 Co. Limerick

This Record can be Purchased from the IRISH FAMILY HISTORY FOUNDATION.The cost from them is 5 Euro

Hi Mike, Thank you for your help. I do have this info from the lds site entered by Don Herbert. I actually got Richard's birth record from IFHF last week and it states Baptised 10/01/1826 Thomastown County Kilkenny. Parents: John Connors and Bridget Reade. Their address is given as Ballynabola which I think is in Wexford. I also have his death cert. which states place of birth as Ballyhale Kilkenny, parents John connors and Bridget Reed. John and Bridget also had a daughter Eleanor born 25 March 1835 and baptised in St. martin of Tours in Ballyhale Kilkenny. I have this record sent to me by the parish priest of Ballyhale. He had no record of Richard and Mary's marriage but sent me a baprism record for their son John born 7 Jan 1854 also baptised in St. Martin so this Limerick link has me confused.
Many thanks
Noelene

Hi Mike,
Thank you again for your help. I'm still not convinced of this Limerick connection. Mary would have been born around 1827 I think but IFHF doesn't have Carlow records (which is given as Mary's place of origin on the shipping record) online yet and as I've spent quite a lot of money veiwing records on their site which turned out to be the wrong ones I'm a bit hesitant to pay out more unless I'm pretty sure as with the exchange rate for the Aussie dollar it works out over $8 to veiw one record which adds up pretty quickly. Anyway I certainly appreciate any help you can give me.
Regards
Noelene

Hi Noelene,It may Be we have two With the Same Names.I can see how confusing it must be.Have you contacted Don Herbert as to where he got the Records. This may well answer That Problem.Unfortunately Connors is a Common Name, like My own McCarthy.

I will try and Do a bit of research,On the ones you Have,So please bear with me

Noelene there are one or two sites on carlow Records. But as you said The I.F.H.F dont.It wont be that long before the Heritage site add them .
Still think 5 euro s are to Expensive, for these records.Up till easter time they were 10 EURO.

Hi Mike,
No I haven't contacted Don Herbert but a few other distant cousins have and they all have the same info that I have that the family are from Kilkenny and with Parish records to prove it I don't think Limerick is an option. I was really hoping to go back another generation to Richard and Mary's grandparents and think I may have found Bridget Read's birth on IFHF. It's a process of elimination though . Gosh I'm glad I wasn't using IFHF before Easter. 10 euro is a lot of money. Much easier to research English ancestors isn't it? I've managed to get back to the 1500's on my mother's side but Dad's elusive Irish are a problem but it's that line that I feel most connected to.
Once again thanks for your efforts Mike. You all do a wonderful job helping us.
Noelene
PS Have checked out all the Carlow sites I can find but without a specific parish to start with it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Hi Mick,
This sounds promising. At least the date is right. What a pity there's not more info.
Am hoping it won't take too long for IFHF to put Carlow on line so I can check those records out. Many thanks

Hi Mick,
Yes there is an LDS centre about 40 kms from where I live so I really must set aside a day when my husband is not working to take me there as I don't drive. Trouble is I don't have a lot of faith in info submitted by members on that site as I've found so many incorrect entries that have caused me so much confusion and wasted time I tend to stick with the extracted records which are usually correct. Appreciate your help Mike.
