I am trying to trace ancestors who were born in Country Antrim

Sarah Darroch born in C Antrim c 1865 married HUGH HIGGINS c 1885. This marriage appeared to take place in Scotland but I am not sure about this.

Hugh's parents GILBERT & ANNA/ANNIE (also nee Darroch) Higgins were born in C Antrim --his sister Jane was too. .
I am getting nowhere with this and hope that somebody can tell me where I can get info re births & marriages in C Antrim please
Thank you-Eileen

Thank you both for you suggestion of Emerald Ancestors and the link. I had heard of it somewhere and planned to try & find it this afternoon and have a go so the link is great
I do use Scotland's people --my mother's paternal side is Scottish as well as my father's.and have found it helpful--also the Scottish census forms on ancestry uk
I am trying to find out what happened re a sibling of my grandma My great grandparents--Gilbert Higgins and Annie Darragh were married in Ahogill c Antrim & I understand that their children were:
Hugh b1864--I have full info for him--his marriage children etc.--
Thomas b1866
Jane b 10 April 1872
Jane b 21 Jan 1877
Clara 1879
I would like to trace a record of the 1st Jane's death. It's interesting that my granny--Jane 2-always celebrated her birthday in April not January but on the 1st not the 10th. Everything else ties in that I have the right granny--census forms her marriage (tho she took a few years off her age but got them back later!!) and the birth of my father & aunt.
At  some point c 1880 there was another daughter called Mary--probably-- but not certainly --born in Antrim-so I would like to trace her birth.-on Scottish census  forms  was 2 years younger than Jane.

I have Annie Darragh's death in Scotland but no trace of Gilbert Higgins so far. I have the rest of the family in Scotland by the time of the 1891 census but no trace of them in 1881. I am hoping to trace Gilbert Higgins' death as well as this may tell me when the family moved to Scotland

If you could help with any of these please. I'd be very gratfeul. I don't expect you to look for them all--I don't "expect" you to do anything!

Thank you--Eileen

My goodness mickym you have been quick. Thank you--I appeciate this. The one for Clara seems a possibility and would explain why she doesn't appear on the Scottish census forms.
Hugh Higgins could be the father of Gilbert as his father was Hugh.
I think that either I need to have another attempt at ancestryireland or go for Emerald ancestors'
I'll keep in touch and let you know how I get on
Eileen

Hello all, I have been progressing and have found  quite a bit more about my Darragh/Darrochs. One little gem was finding the death record of Anna Higgins nee Darragh/Darroch (my great grandmother) I smile every now & then when I think of it--it's not funny really as it's a death!-- but she died in the Co-operative Buildings--9.45 a.m 1st January1912--as a result of a cerebral thrombosis. I had an instant vision of her being furious because her divi was less than expected--my dad--her grandson worked for the co-op and the divi w as an important part of my child hood!!
Her son William was with her--my father was fond of "uncle Willy"

I was telling a friend about this as I was in touch soon after the "find" .She said that is  friendly with a Darragh family who live in the area where my father was for a short while in the war and he visited family named Darragh so she is going to see if there is a connection. how exciting if there is as they are about 30 miles from where I live-
I feel that a lot of this is due to your encouragement--people like ourselves who put themselves out for strangers and help me along the way
Thank you--Eileen

slight correction--should read people like your selves--not our selves!!

I'm hoping to find out where family members got to--I know that Uncle W stayed in Scotland-a great aunt came to England with my granny & her husband
I am well & truly hooked. The more you find out--the more you want to find out!

I have been delighted recently to make good progress with some of my late husband's ancestors --one line I have got back as far as 1580 and only 20 miles or so from where we moved to about 20 yrs ago---totally unaware of any connection. I also found that a branch of my mother's family came from  30 miles from where I now live and not far where there are Darraghs living now who may just be a connection of the relations that dad visited in the war!!
Watch this space!
Eileen

A litle bit more update on the Darrochs as of this morning.
I have found another copy of the amrriage between Gilbert Higgins & Annie Darrgah and it says that Gilbert was a soldier--also give the names of both fathers & the ages which the other one hadn't.
I keep at it!

Thank you all for your comments --it's really encouraging when other people are pleased for you--at least I find this so.

I see that I mentioned ancestry ireland earlier. Well--a week a go I had an e mail rom the people who you pay for credits with a receipt for my credits paid for in may.So i sent this to ancestry  I reland  as that might have been why I seemed to have no credits,. I had a lovely reply with an apology saying I  must have have slipped though the net due to re-organisation, The person who contacted me couldn't have been more helpful,  activated my account & added some credits and they said that  if I gave them names of who I  was looking for etc they would put them in a "menu" or something like that  and that's how  I found the info mentioned in message 16.So--I felt I needed to put the record straight with you re A I

With this added info I can check more easily if the Hugh Higgins burial record you gave me which I noted is "mine"
Will be in touch--Eileen
