Can any one help me please, I am trying to find my Grandfather, he was born as far as we know in 1888, in I believe Bramley Leeds, as on his marriage lines he gives him as 22 yrs old, he married Mary Bygraves in 1910, on this it says his father James was deceased, I have photo's of him so he did live, he died in 1967, but I can not find any record of his birth, I did find a Willie Desbough born in 1888 and he was on the 1891 and the 1901 census I have hit a brick wall so any help would be wonderful Marj aka pompy |

Hi Marj You are welcome. Thomas James may well have been known by his middle name -- a very common practice. Now that I have heard back from you, I will do some more searching, so keep checking the boards in case I find more info for you. Marian |

I am sure its him as my Mum who's name was Florance Marjorie was always called Marjorie, one of her sisters was called Dorothy Joan was always called Joan, and one of the other sisters was also called by her middle name, the familt seemed to do that ?? Marj |

Hi Marj Yes, it was the same with several members of my own family. It can sometimes be confusing, but on the other hand it can be very helpful at times when searching for names as it gives us more choice of names -- and also more clues! Marian |
