Sired by an angel but mothered by a demon, Abby was never welcome in Heaven, and harassed in Hell. Abby was raised by an outlawed group of misfits. She was instantly known as the Demon with Wings and was picked on by all the children in the society.

It was an underground society that dealt with things that more or less went bump in the night, these people knew that they couldn’t be discovered or it would mean certain death. They lived in fear of humans, and often times thought of as a cult.

The leader of this society took Abby under his wing, Kane; he was a powerful vampire with a heart of brass. He believed in fairness and was very patient with the “monsters�?that he looked after. But he was also a fairly cold man, and ruled with an iron fist.

It was explained to Abby at an early age that she would be raised here and kept as one of them, but she would pull her own weight. There were others in this city that wished to harm them, bring them into the open and destroy them, this other society wanted to bring their races and their kind into the open. Therefore, their were slayers that took the role of soldier to protect their society, they were paid like a bounty hunter and usually lived far on the surface, they made appearances in the Underground regularly and she often times saw Kane take a group of Slayers into the Main Hall for council meetings.

As Abby grew older, she learned of the “others�?that wished the Underground harm, there were several societies, but the main one was a large Vampire household that immigrated from Romania in the 1800s. Their leader, who actually happened to be Kane’s older brother, believed with all his shriveled heart that humans were weaker and they needed to be dealt with, enslaved and cast down from power. That was what the slayers sought to protect, human life, even though if humans were to find out about the “monsters�?living under their feet, they would hunt them down like animals.

Abby grew into a strong and powerful woman, she learned of her powers, how to hide her wings with illusion and how to defend what was hers. A ruler was what Kane wanted for his daughter, his pride and his joy. She was the light in his life, and he taught her well, she was a Princess in his eyes. She was shown how to be a diplomatic voice. She often joined him in the council meetings between their society and others throughout the country that shared the same vision as Kane.

Even knowing his dreams for her Abby found a knack for slaying, and soon managed to persuade her best friend to teach her the ropes, she had watched for as long as she could remember, and taught herself in private, but she wanted a seasoned hand.

Riley was in fact, several hundred years older then her, but he managed to pull off a look of about twenty-seven years of age. He was thought to have been born in the age of Christ himself. Riley was one of the oldest demons in the society. Riley had been the one that found Abby, she’d been carelessly dumped in a back alley and while on a hunt, he had heard her fierce cries.

Not quite knowing what to do with a baby, but knowing she was different just by the way she moved and those small wings on her back. He had wrapped her in his arms and hustled back to the Underground where he presented her to Kane.

Riley had watched her from a distance and saw as she had blossomed into an attractive woman and a formidable fighter all on her own. So when Abby had come to him, wanting to be taught how to slay, he hadn’t been able to say no.

After a harsh war between the Underground and Kane’s brother, Kane fell, Riley was lost and the Underground was invaded causing Abby to have to flee.
