Are these the ones you all use? I usually buy a 10x13 envelope and go to the Post Office. But with the baby now I don't want to make so many trips to the P.O.! Just wanted to see if these are about the same dimensions before I place an order. Oh and if anyone knows what it costs to mail one SB off the top of thier head I'd really appreciate it!! Thanks!!! What's the difference in ordering the above envelopes and paying postage now vs. picking them up at the post office (couldn't find where you can order them for free online) and paying later using the Click n Ship option? The envelopes you linked to are prepaid and you will not get delivery confirmation. You can order the envelopes for free online (just ordered a whole bunch a couple weeks ago) and pay online via Click N Ship and get free confirmation as well as carrier pick up. You can still request carrier pick up even if you use the prepaid ones. I like the free ones without postage cuz then I can use the envelopes for packets I just hand out at shows as well and I'm not out any money. :) |

You still have to arrange for pickup because they are too heavy (usually) to just leave in your box. If you go to the PO, you HAVE to go in and hand them to an employee because packages over 16 oz must be hand stamped due to security. You can't just drop them in a box. ------------- Unless she knows what she puts in it and weighs is and it's less than 16 oz. For what it's worth Sandi |

Use the Click N Ship Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope and send your stuff anywhere for $4.05 regardless of how much you cram into the envelope! You get the supplies free from the US Post Office and can even schedule the carrier pickup when you print your labels. I use this daily for my transcription business and it has been a lifesaver! And, I use it any time that I mail out host packets, etc. for PC. You can buy the labels at Office Max that are designed for the USPS Click N Ship program. Makes life a lot easier! |

Finally I think I'm figuring this out. I found the free mailers at USPS.com Then it explained it at the bottom just like you all did. Quick, Easy, Convenient. The Postal Service simplified your Priority Mail shipping process for documents, offering the easy-to-use Flat Rate Envelope. Just like the Flat Rate Boxes, this paperboard envelope item features a predetermined rate of $4.05 regardless of the weight or destination zone of the package.
A few key benefits: - Any weight, any state, $4.05. Postage is $4.05 regardless of weight or destination.
- No need for a scale. Visit Click-N-Ship to purchase and print postage right from your desktop at home or at the office. You don't need a scale.
- No need for a trip to the Post Office. Visit Pickup Options to arrange for next-day pickup at no extra charge (available in most locations) using online Carrier Pickup.
I guess it does make sense to not pay for the postage ahead of time. I'm not worried about delivery confirmation but why not if it's free using the Click n Ship. I just don't want to go to the post office if I don't have to! Thanks!!! Michelle |

I'm not sure how to quote but I wanted to reply that I always use media mail to send my host packets. The post office has never given me a problem. Sometimes they'll ask me what is inside and I tell them catalogs for my hosts. |

If you use media mail, do you mail out the packets 6 weeks in advance to ensure that they get them on time? |

I usually mail them about 4 weeks in advance and they get there in 2-3 days. I've never had one take longer than 3 days to get to my host. |

Just know that they can also check what you are mailing and our host packets do NOT qualify for media mail..... I always use the flat rate priority envelopes as well, haven't gotten around to printing postage from home, but will definitely look into that. Also....there is a rate increase for the USPS planned for May 1, 2007 -- I don't have details yet on whether the flate rate envelopes will be affected, but will keep you posted as I hear more (my other job is for a large mailing company) |

Here's my 2 cents worth...I USE CLICK-N-SHIP. It is so easy, no need to go to post office and hand it to a postal employee (anything over 1 pound has to be handed to an employee.) You CAN leave it in your home mail box and place your flag up for delivery, because the Click-N-Ship is registerd as you as the sender (even if it's over a pound, BTW it's usually 1lb 13-16 oz is you place 4 catalogs in them.) Also, you do not have to schedule a pick-up if you already get mail delivery, they just pick it up when they drop off your regular mail, for Click-N-Ship users.
PS: scales at Office Max or Office Depot are about $20-$25 and can be used as a business expense. A well used, convenient business expense, I might add. :-) |

I usually mail them about 4 weeks in advance and they get there in 2-3 days. I've never had one take longer than 3 days to get to my host. That has NEVER been my experience with Media Mail. I sell books online from time to time and I've never had anything sent via media mail arrive faster than 7 days or so. I'm sticking with Priority Flat Rate Envelopes. |

Ok, one last question about this Click n Ship thing. Do you have to have special paper to print off the postage? Sticker paper or something you have to purchase from USPS? Michelle P.S. My post office will not send my host packets media mail. They won't send just catalogs media mail either. They brought out a list of what CAN go media mail and explained to me that they don't qualify. I've actually moved 3 times (3 towns 2 different states) since starting my biz and all three post offices have told me the same thing. I say take advantage of it as long as you can, but don't be surprised when they change their minds suddenly. I used to be able to send them media mail until they really started cracking down on what's sent in the mail. It's amazing how much has changed with the post office since I started 3 years ago! |

I use regular paper to print my labels/postage and then tape it to the envelope with packing tape. You're not supposed to put tape over the barcode, but I do put tape over the recipients name and address so the ink doesn't run . |

Just to share: I purchased an inexpensive, but great postage scale on Ebay for $5 - with shipping I paid less than $15. |
