The following piece is what amounted to a fun poetic saga that was started by Lady Badria and Eane... which in turn drew me in and quickly included a fourth party Iam. As many of you know Eane passed into the Summerlands, and we were unable to complete it as a group. I have therefore obtained permission from both Badria and Iam to bring this saga into Betwixt in order to give it a place of honour here at the Bards Bench. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

The principle players are:

The Witch of Endora (Lady Badria)
The Wood Nymph (Eane)
The Windigo (Red Phoenix)
The Raven (Iam)

and so.....

Bubbling, bubbling toiling and troubling,
Battles are on and the enemies doubling.
In the darkened woods, shadows appear,
No need to fret, The Witch Endora’s here.

The battles are on; this is the game,
With the cauldrons fires sparkling blue flames.
Deadly nightshade and spun honey of gold,
The enemies approach their secrets unfold.

Grabbing up some mojo and the spirited rune,
Visions come forward in the light of the moon.
The Witch of Endora is the protector of the woods,
Bringing her gifts of other-worldly goods.
(B)

I thought we settled her hash last time
That Witch Endora sitting so sublime
Wants another war?  Well that is fine
But gosh darn it she wants it all in  rhyme

She sits in her wood with her kettle all aboil
With her fire all lit and her bubble, trouble, toil
Never thinking how much of the wood she would spoil
If her fire got away and caused a turmoil

She sits there stirring all the junk in her pot
Wondering who to tease and get their panties in a knot
It's really quite a shame that she has forgot
Who won the last war and was it her? .......NOT

I sneak through the bushes right up to her camp
With a bucket full of water for to make her fire damp
I'm gonna toss it over there and put out her lamp
And then run away before her hands on me clamp

I am the Wood Sprite who lives here in these trees
I will bring all who endanger them down on their knees
So don't cross my path with evil intent please
Or I will make you a toad before you can sneeze
(E)

Oh how lovely the nymph of the trees,
Thinks Endora’s a danger to thee.
A Crazy ole bat she is definitely not,
Nor a loon or even half cocked.

Endora however is a bit tattered and frayed,
But all of her senses are fine this day.
Protect the cauldron is on the list,
From the wood nymph and her water of jest.

Keeping the honey a boiling in bunk,
A fine ole recipe not one of junk.
The tree sprite is mighty gung ho,
As I sprinkle the powders and away she blows.

Tumbling and falling; oops right on her head,
I think its time for the nymph to go to bed.
A rest she needs as Endora now gloats,
Hehehe; As she sheathes herself in the forests cloak.
(B)

What Endora doesn't know is that I can be a mist
And float among the trees if you can get my gist
So I can sneak up on her and show her my fist
The powder that she threw at me really got me pist  (poetic license)

So then I took a powder and slept until today
These woods are so deserted, no one wants to play
But I will be here always.  I will not run away
To haunt the witch Endora is reason here to stay

She saw my pretty picture and did she really dig
So she took herself to Isa to make her a sig
And I have just seen them they are really quite a gig
And when Endora sees them she will really flip her wig

I look around the clearing where her cauldron sits and burns
No Endora is in sight as I peek through the ferns
I smell the scorching honey, some peoples never learns
To sits and tends their honey or this is what you earns

She seems to like this recipe a really whole lot
All she does all day is sit and stir her pot
And now I can laugh when I think of what she got
She went and left her honey and her honey's too hot

So now her honey is so hot that it smokes
And honey this hot is really no jokes
It may just blow up and as the whole place it soaks
 Endora's ire it surely provokes

So I, as a breeze, gently blow on the flames
The honey boils and boils and bursts the pot's frames
And the honey flies all over, (I really love these games!)
Aha! Here comes Endora, let's see who she blames

While the nymph lay there napping to give her head a rest,
I ran over to Isa’s, a siggy I wanted to request.
I thought her sleep would last longer then it really did,
And now my honey pot she blew; oh heavens forbid.

The little sprite came a calling and blowing that hot air,
She blew and blew my poor cauldron in disrepair.
I looked and looked, how could this be,
All in pieces as the sprite chuckles with glee.

Tis really my fault I cannot truthfully deny,
Teach me to buy powders from discount supply.
Good thing that last special two pots for one,
I have a back up so the damage can be undone.

But before I can brew my fires and get them fiery hot,
I have to go pick some hemlock and even devils knot.
So on my way I go; a Lil Sprite I’m on the prowl,
A sling shot in hand and now I hear her howl.

A sprite is pretty nifty with all the gifts they hold
But they are nearsighted, and the cactus now unfolds.
She thought she was cool and even pretty slick,
But tumbling down; her bums now full of pricks.

The pot I have hidden not in the forest it rests,
This is for protections with little money to invest.
On my traveling trails blessings I have claimed
As the forest has risen and treasures I reclaim

Hemlock and adders tongue even eye of newt
Treasures are here in the isles of natures fruit
I must now hurry the sprite may come back
And this spot for sure I wouldn’t want her to hack!

I bet she is wondering, how in the world...
Did a cactus end up on the forest floor?
Isn't it amazing the powers Endora can bring,
Conjuring up magick even when it can sting.
(B)

Oh dreary, oh draggy, the winter’s long days
When will spring come to the Wood?
The Wood Nymph is hoping for flowers and sun
And days that are happy and good.

I’m wondering where that Endora did go
With her pot full of honey so new
Did she go from the Wood and seek a new home
No more to play games here, PU!

I am soaking my tush in a warm water bath
After pulling the cactus spines out
Endora is getting so physical here
That her motives are really in doubt

First she blows me around till I bang up my head
Then I sit on the cactus in pain
I wonder what’s next in this game that we play
And what will be found there to gain

I think I will stay sitting here in my tree
And think all the thoughts that I can
Till my tush it does heal and my head it does clear
While I ponder next strategies plan

And maybe Endora will wonder and fret
Just where I have gone for to hide
The next time I see her I’ll fix her real good
(But now I’ll just sit here and bide)
(E)

Deep in the heart of the wood
a graven image stood
Unseen by witch or sprite
it cast its inner light.

Despite the witch's ruckus and song
the ice and snow has stayed over long
The nymph's lament is full of winter woe
the spirit listens, humming low.

Magic moves and crackles deep beneath
tiny cracks crawl over the stoney sheath
Wonder moves and greets the morn
what shape or form is about to be born?
(R)

The Wood Nymph spent a comfy night
Asleep in her tree such a peaceful sight
But now with morning's shining light
Comes a humming, rumbling, sounding might

Her tree is shaking what can it be
Should she stay here or should she flee
Oh please don't knock down my lovely tree
The Sprite she yells this fearful plea

She peeks out of her wooden door
And sees there on the forest floor
Some tiny cracks that weren't there before
Oh please, I just can't take any more

What can be happening in the Wood
I'm sure it can't be anything good
She went outside putting on her hood
For the snow was falling where she stood

But  wonder of wonders, there she found
The snow was just not reaching the ground
The flakes were melting without a sound
And the air was warming all around

I wonder what this can possibly be
The Wood Nymph thought going into her tree
Well, I hope it doesn't mean harm to me
But we will just have to wait and see

The Witch Endora is a funny little thing
She is lonely even with the magick she brings
She looks happily everyday
Hoping the Sprite will come her way

She really doesn't want to be ugly or even mean
She only wants to play and giddy to bring
She worries when the sprite isn't around
And searches and searches hoping she is found

Another battle Endora will then ensue
Hoping to play a new story to constue
Yet something is in the air Endora can sense
Another creature and it's making her tense

The energies dance and the energies twirl
A shapeshifter; and the mists now swirl
To what and wonder are they still safe
What will happen to the wood nympth and the waif
(B)

The weather seemed warmer, the Wood Nymph came out
The snow it was melting all round and about
"I'm rested so well that I must go and see
'Cause I wonder just where that Endora can be"

"She left in a flurry and hasn't come back
She took all her stuff and her cauldron did pack
So where could she be now, I just cannot tell
I'll look all around and I'll start where I fell"

"Aha! In the snow are some tracks that I spy
I'll follow them then I will sure find out why
She packed up her stuff and spirited it away
I'll surely find out where she put it today"

"The snow it is melting and the tracks getting thin
I'll hurry and follow them then I will win
I'll find her and think of a plan that is funny
And find out just what she has done with her honey"

"Oh! There is the distance a shack I do spy
I know it's the right place and that is no lie
I'll just bet Endora is there with her stash
I'll take a quick peek and then I will dash"

"I looked in the window and what did I see
But Endora still stirring her pot of honey
She sits by her fire but what can that be?
A kitty cat sitting right there on her knee"

"There!  I shifted my shape to a doggy and barked
The kitty cat raised up her head and she harked
Then spitting and clawing she speedily sped
And clawed to the top of Endora's blonde head"

"Now laughingly I can return to my tree
I'm ROFLing and sure full of glee
Endora sure looked funny and I'll tell you that
Just sitting there wearing a kitty cat hat!"
(E)

The day was really beautiful, the daffodils in bloom
A nice change of pace from the dreary winters gloom
Endora got real busy a new recipe she would make
Honey and her magickal herbs, is all it would take

Sneaking through the forest, down the deep trails
Noticing some birds, she spotted two quails
Reaching up and snagging, a tail feather off one of the birds
She then said Thank you, but squawking was all she heard

Heading deep in the woods, in the forest she went
Feeling real fine, happy and content
Thinking of the sprite resting through the day
Wondering when she would come and pass her way

No doubt not today, not as busy as I am
Endora said muttering she would put me in a jam
Finally she spotted her shack, looking a little frayed
But it was her home and she loves it anyway

Going inside, her new cauldron she spied
Cooking it to season after washing it with lye
Now all ready, cooking her magickal lot
Being real careful not to get this one too hot

Sitting by the fire just a rocking away
Coming to visit was her familiar who on her stayed
Sitting on her lap purring and content
Loving her Endora, days is how she spent

When all of a sudden and in a thundering rush
Came a huge dog a barking, his fur was mighty plush
Endoras cat went nuts racing to the top
Sitting on Endoras head the cat began to flop

Crying out from the claws Endora felt like a tree
She thought she heard the sprite giggly and glee
Ah the nympth has all rested shifting her shape
Taking on a dog like a witch puts on her cape

Well I will fix her all but mighty good
And then we will see who really rules the wood
Fixing her wounds from an ointment in the batch
Some of endoras magick, healing it would hatch

Thinking now what can Endora do
To give the little sprite her justice, she hasnt a clue
Stirring her pot of golden honey spun
Ideas kept spinning but those she shunned

Afterall the sprite was a nuisance but her only friend
So nothing so deadly just to apprehend
Ummm what can it be, spinning Endoras mind
Thats it! How could I have been so blind!

Hatching her plan Endora was pleased
This will fix the sprite, laughing now with glee
She worked up her potions under the full moon
And now Endora was giddy and laughing like a loon

Sneaking up to her tree the sprite was sound a sleep
She gave her a potion and now in dreams they ran deep
Putting her in a large nappy and taking her away
Into the shack, through the night the sprite would stay

The rest of her plan will soon now unfold
As we wait till tomorrow to listen how its told
The sprite is resting soundly at least until she awakes
Lets hope it's through the night Endora said  for goodness sakes

What a fun time I had, with Endora I played
I thought she would catch me or else I'd have stayed
And barked some more loudly so kitty would spit
And laugh as she clambered on Endora to sit

But now I am home in my tree for for awhile
It's tiring work when Endora I rile
I'll call it a day and creep back in my bed
I should clean my house but I'll sleep here instead.

So the Wood Nymph she snuggled beneath her down quilt
The smile on her face was without any guilt
She puffed up her pillow and gave a deep sigh
And fell off to sleep until morning was nigh

A sweet dream she had of her beautiufl wood
As a Wood Nymph her dreams are of nothing but good
But into the mist of her dreaming there came
A definite disruption known by only one name

That name is Endora, the Witch who loved honey
But this time the visit was not really funny
Administering a potion and disturbing the dream
The Wood Nymph was helpless and couldn't even scream

She fell in a black hole as deep as the night
A bottomless pit filled with nothing but fright
She swam through the darkness with only one aim
To get out of this sleep and return to the game

Like swimming in honey, her arms soon did tire
Even sleeping she knew her position was dire
A prisoner she was of that devious witch
Who had kidnapped her easily without any glitch

She felt herself carried away from her tree
And wondered how could she ever get free
She was placed on the floor it was warm there as toast
But smelled strangely of honey prepared by her host

Still sleeping, she knew just what had transpired
But my goodness gracious she still was so tired
She snuggled down in the nappy so warm
And proceeded to sleep through the night until morn

As the morning sun shone through the window so clear
She woke to the knowledge there was something to fear
A strange place this was, it sure was not her bed
And besides she had pain rolling all round her head

A potion effect, it was all very plain
What caused her sick headache and all of this pain
Endora had done it, without any doubt
She sat up so dizzy and looked all about

And there in the rocking chair, chin on her chest
Endora sat snoozing and taking her rest
This was her chance to get out of this house
So whe wiggled her nose and turned into a mouse

She scurried and hurried across the wood floor
And easily got through a hole in the door
Then back to her form the Wood Nymph did turn
To think of a lesson Endora could learn

She worked her quick magick with not a word spoken
That made it so Endora's door would not open
She giggled and laughed running back through the wood
Thus teaching Endora a lesson but good

It's out through a window she'd sure have to climb
By standing on a chair and taking her time
But the best part of all, and the Wood Nymph she knew
That under the window a briar bush grew

With only one window and door to be had
She'd fall in the briars and that was real sad
Cause the magick that causes the door to swing wide
Could only be worked up by standing outside
(E)

A raven is perched on a highbranch at night;
She's been watching the anticsof Endora and sprite.
She delights as she watches these two go around.
Certainly, the best show she's yet found.

With anticipation she waits for daylight;
Preaning her feathers, getting ready for flight.
Deep in the woods on a majestic, white birch,
Spreading her wings, she takes off from her perch.

Circling the forest on currents of air,
She spots Endora, beautiful and fair.
Tending her honey in a cauldron hot,
Seems she got herself out of her "sticky" spot.

The raven she grins as she watches with glee,
Endora plucking briars from her knees.
A spell she has conjured, her door now  open wide;
the raven leaves on a current and glides.

Her mind's hard at work planning.
They won't see it coming.
The excitement is building, her heart's just
a drumming.

Watch out for sneaky raven for she has a plan,
To adorn her nest with whatever she can!
(I)

A big, bulky nest, sitting high in the trees
made of branches and sticks,
Hidden inside, shiny and black, the patient
Raven, she sits.

Spring is coming, time to clean house
New adornments she needs.
Anything shiny, she thinks will look nice;
maybe coins, rings or beads.

She stands, yawns and stretches her big, flat wings
Getting ready for flight.
Through the canopy of leaves ,the sun  breaks through
saying good-bye to the night.

The shiny objects she yearns for so much
In the forest are hard to find.
As she hops off her nest, swooping and gliding,
She has a clear plan in her mind.

She's searched the forest high and low
Looking for objects that are shiny and glow.
Following the scent of honey one day, she hit the jackpot.
Her heart was gay.

The beautiful Endora was always around.
How would she get to the objects she's found?
Then a little Wood Nymph arrived one day,
Now her plan comes into play.

Flying up high amongst the clouds,
"Patience, patience", she mutters aloud.
(I)

A fragrant mist swirls up from the ground
it roils with both colour and sound
It shimmers full of dance
music come to life upon first glance

It curls through the trees soft as a shiver
waking the dryads, making them quiver
Through the silence it moves, waking them all
Be it bird or beast, all hear the call

A Windigo has come, a rarity of its kind
the magic that bound it has begun to unwind
Child of the wind, guardian amoung the trees
it laughs, a mad whisper upon the breeze

Bound long ago, by mans cruel whim
Her power lay quiet and dim
She was an oddity, unlike her windborne kin
With the power to drive you Within.

At last freedom reigns and possibilities abound
to create mischief, with but a sound
Witch, Nymph and Raven with dark wings
would do best not listen when the Windigo sings.

With the nymph tucked away safely in the nappy
Endora fell asleep so she wouldn’t be so snappy
She had a surprise planned for the lil sprite
Let her taste the honey and she would see the light

Endora pictured in her mind how fine it would be
The lil nymph and her as friends she would see
Sharing of honey and even some mead
Best friends surely they would end to be

Endora wouldn’t be lonely no more
Her friend the sprite would keep open the door
Sweet dreams Endora surely had
Then upon awakening she seen it was pretty bad

The nappy was empty the sprite had fled
And the front door held fast and held sted
The only escape out the window will work
But with all those thorns it would surely hurt

Climbing out slowly as Endora has aged
Not doing too fast and now she is enraged
Moving real slow being careful of the pricks
Falling out the window and into all those sticks

Endora cries out from the thorny briar bush
Pricks in her knee and pricks in her tush
Getting up and moving limping as she goes
Dusty off the dirt from her tattered clothes

Using her magick the door now opens wide
In came a raven in a gentle sweeping stride
What do you want Endora hollered so
Trying to recant all of magicks flow

Them ravens Endora knew she had to watch
They will steal anything and even drink her scotch
First the sprite she would take care of First
Then the raven if it tried to quench it’s thirst

Off to the tree Endora set out on the path
That lil sprite would surely endure all my wrath
She thought it aweful funny she really hasn’t a clue
Cause Endora has plans for the magickal glue

Three times three the magick has spun
Endora and the sprite have both had sore bums
Sneaking very carefully the nympth can not see
As Endora climbs up into her tree

She gathered her energy and fast as a lightning strike
She grabbed up the nymph with all her powers and might
She pulled out the magickal glue and tied her panties in a knot
And the nymph set there and hollered gee...thanks a lot!

Back in her shack the raven had fled
So Endora laid down to rest her weary head
The raven thinks its smart and even pretty slick
But Endora knows it’s up to no good and only a dirty trick
(B)

The Wood Nymph is getting so restless in her tree
She ventures outside to see what she can see
She looks all around and naught can she spy
Except a dark raven that is flying so high

A strange emanation from the ground she does feel
Small rumblings and stirrings around her feet steal
There’s a scent in the air of an enigmatic thing
She wonders if it could possibly be spring

But, no, it is something different yet again
Unrecognized and new and way beyond her ken
There’s a presence in the forest that is ancient and old
It’s strength is now returning and it’s getting pretty bold

Some think the forest is a quiet lonely place
But the new exciting happenings show another face
The forest is full of wonder and delight
And new things are happening almost every night

A brand new creature is emerging in the Wood
Yet it is old as nature but quietly has stood
Among the trees for ages past and now has come to life
And brings another problem, we hope it’s not of strife

The Wood Nymph ponders what has come to be
Then sees the dark, black raven perched up in a tree
"Hello, there Raven, and how are you today?"
But the raven just shook her head and nothing had to say

The Raven she had spied there a pretty, shiny bell
Hanging in the window of the tree house in the dell
It would ring it’s tinkle, tinkle with each breeze passing by
And the Raven thought to own it by being ever sly

She sat there and waited hoping for the best
That the Wood Sprite would leave and she could have it for her nest
But the Raven didn’t know that there was magick in the bell
That the Wood Sprite had found it at the bottom of a well

Where unbeknownst to most of us a water troll did live
In this deserted well and he would never deign to give
His shiny bell to anyone but when he left one day
The Wood Sprite she had come along and spirited it away

The magick of the bell was that whenever it did ring
It would make you very happy and your heart would start to sing
So now the troll was angry and depressed as he could be
He had lost his happy ringing and no shiny could he see

He had searched for his shiny bell abroad both far and near
But no shiny bell a’ringing could he see or hear
For the sprite had put a spell on it so it would never roam
So no trolls could ever see it while it hung there in her home

But if the bell should leave the tree no more would it protect
And the troll who was still searching would be able to detect
The location of his property and soon he would be there
And heaven help the one who had the bell within her care

So as to the Raven we shall see what we shall see
And getting slightly hungry, the Nymph went to her tree
As she settled down there to enjoy a sandwich for her lunch
Endora crashed right in the door before she could even munch

She grabbed the Sprite and hollered, "This is payback for your trick"
"This glue will knot your panties and really make them stick"
Then she ran back out the door and forgetting where she was
She fell out of the tree and got her head all in a fuzz

And as she ran back home to take some aspirin for her head
The Raven flew away and to herself she said
"These creatures are as nutty as a hickory in July"
"I will come back later and give the bell another try"

So now the Nymph had problems of the very sticky kind
She dashed out of her tree and down the branches climbed
While running to the brook she shouted out a charm
To keep the glue from hardening and doing any harm

She jumped into the running brook that was still very cold
And washed off all the sticky glue and if this story’s told
She was so cold and shivery as she ran back to her tree
She turned a lovely shade of blue for all the world to see

She climbed her tree and there her wet and chilly clothes she shed
She grabbed her flannel nightie and popped it o’er her head
And jumping in her nice, warm bed we thought we heard her say
"I think that I will stay here until another day"

While outside in the misty dusk a new-formed presence lurked
Humming softly to itself while quietly it worked
Invisible to all, it moved on slowly through the night
Observing all that had so long been kept away from sight

The Wooded Forest settles down to face another night
We hope it will be quiet here until the morning’s light
That all of it’s inhabitants so safe and sound will stay
Until the sunshine comes again to start another day
(E)

The raven flew home very fast to the comfort   of her nest.
She settled in, preaned her feathers, and calmed  her heaving chest.
Looking back on the day's events, she had so much  to consider;
Endora's home full of shiny things, but it's the bell that has her aquiver.

Flying high, o'er the forest, she happens to look down
to see a heady mist, swirling on the ground.
Colors so beautiful, dancing around and from within
came the most beautiful sound.
The colors, the music, the heady scent, went quickly to her head.
Beautiful, but scary, to Endora's house she fled.
Although she was uneasy, she kept it hidden well;
But Endora never noticed as she hurried down the dell.
It's then, when raven followed her that she spotted the shiny bell.
Oh how lovely it would look, hanging in her nest!
Wouldn't she love to show it off to all her haughty guests!
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a  great, big thud;
And turned to see Endora fall, her butt stuck in the mud!

The raven laughed and lifted her wings to take flight in the air.
She looked back just in time to see the Wood Nymph  on a tear!
"What a day! Oh, What a day!", she quietly crooned aloud.
I'll have that bell to pretty my nest, To herself she vowed

She finally drifted off to sleep with visions of Bells in her head;
While Endora and Wood Nymph tossed and turned in their downy beds.

Most Windigo are made of terror and malice
but this one enchants, a fools holy chalice
Illusions and dreams, they all beguile
until the mist pulls you under with but a smile

Tendrils searching, whisper and hum
its heartbeat, a long echo of a drum
They have unknowingly pulled it to the light
It heard the sound of their laughter and spite

High above under an azure sky
a mighty raven is on the fly
Despite her thirst for sparkle and shine
best look not in the mist and she'll be fine

Shift and shimmer, finally a shape
but reality seems to twist, turn and drape.
Only the eyes of the forest can see
just what a Windigo can be
(R)

Things are just not right here the Wood Nymph thinks
Something in the woodland definitely stinks
There is something going on in the Wood it’s for sure
And not knowing the cause, she didn’t know the cure

Endora didn’t show up for all the next day
The Wood Nymph got bored and went outside to play
She ran through the Wood toward Endora’s little hut
Thinking that her life was really in a rut

There was no one to play with it really was a shame
She tried to think of something to put into a game
Along about the forest floor the mist began to form
The Nymph she hardly noticed though it was far from norm

She heard some lovely music and wondered what it was
The mist it just got thicker and her head began to buzz
The mist it swirled in rainbow hues, the Nymph she felt so funny
But just in time she knew she smelled the scent of witch’s honey

She ran into the yard of Endora’s little shack
And she just kept on running and never looking back
The mist stayed in the forest as it couldn’t leave the shade
The Nymph she pounded on the door, a lot of noise she made

The door it quick flew open there was no lock or key
The Nymph ran inside but no one could she see
The hut it was deserted, no Endora was in sight
The kitty cat was hiding she had given it such a fright

The honey pot was sitting and bubbling on the hearth
She knew that if she touched it she would feel Endora’s wrath
It smelled so sweet and lovely she hardly could resist
She felt she surely needed it after running from the mist

"I wonder what would happen if I took a little sip"?
The Wood Nymph she thought she would like a little nip
She took Endora’s cup and a little scoop of honey
And sipped it very slowly now she didn’t feel so funny

"This honey surely was the thing that I did sorely need
And now I think that I would like a little drink of mead
So to the cupboard where she knew the mead it was kept
If Endora could have seen her she surely would have wept

She sat in the rocking chair sipping from the cup
She thought she’d have some more and so she did get up
She drank up all the mead and had some honey for the road
Then very slightly staggering she left the small abode

Walking back through the Wood with a spinning in her head
She longed to be home and safe within her bed
The mist it had been waiting seeking out it’s prey
But then it got one whiff of her and knew it couldn’t stay

When you eat witches honey and top it off with mead
No other protection from anything you need
The power of that mixture will keep you safe all day
And keep all harmful things safely away

The mist it receded and went silently through the Wood
It had lost this opportunity but it knew that it could
Come back another time and have another chance
And make all these creatures step to it’s dance

The Wood Nymph stumbled onward to her tree
And climbing up the branches she could hardly see
She fell into her bed and couldn’t take any more
The room spun round till she touched her foot to floor

She opened her eyes but the window was so bright
She suddenly realized something was not right
She looked at the window but the window was bare
The pretty shining bell was no longer there

"I swear I will never do this foolish thing again
I know I’ll feel better, I just don’t know when
I hope Endora doesn’t check her cupboard right away
Cause I have had enough excitement for one day"
(E)

Endora was busy all day on the woodsy trails
Harvesting herbs for all of natures ails
Something is stirring Endora can feel it in the air
The tree spirit tells her a mystery is in despair

What can I do she asks the spirit of wood
Shall I make a potion or magick that is good
The spirit of the tree said no it's much more then that
Only time will tell you this battle to combat

So as Endora pondered off to home she went
Realizing how her energy was used up and spent
She was so tired and hungry as could be
Thinking of her bubbling honey and her splendid mead

Just beyound the hill her shack she did spot
Thinking of the honey by now it's pretty hot
Rinsing off some herbs and drying the liny leaves
To put into the honey and all her pains would surely ease

Reaching for the door, something was amiss
Her senses really peaked and she new it wasnt bliss
Open door she ordered and it opened on command
As she peered around her voice was on demand

Who has been here this I want to know
The cat said hissing that lil sprite that glows
What was her tender what did she want
The bump on my head; did she come here to taunt?

The cat shrugged like he didnt have a care in the world
Only inside he wondered was evil coming to unfurl
The Witch Endora agreed to wonder too
And went to the fire to get her homemade brew

Only then did she spy all her mead had dissappeared
Grabbing up her wand, she made it reappear.
That little sprite another day will come for her
And grabbing the spoon and giving the honey a stir

Something is afoot no magick that she knows
This has Endora nervous and the energy flows
First the raven flew in and now the creepy mist
This really has Endora nervous and puts on a different twist
(B)

The raven, hidden amongst the leaves of agreat, majestic oak;
Saw Endora leave her shack afoot, "Hooray!", the raven croaked.
She waited until Endora was long gone and out of sight,
Then flew into the little shack knowingthis just wasn't right.

There upon a little shelf she spied a ring thatshined and glittered.
Her eyes grew big, her stomach churned, her heart was all a twitter.
She danced around the room with the ring upon her beak,
The ring was just so splendid, no more treasures did she seek.

She hopped to the door and into the bright sunshine;
All the whilst singing, "It's mine, Oh yes, it's mine!"
She took off in the air with her big, ole wings a flappin';
It's then she saw the little nymph, just singing and a clappin'.

"Well, well, well", the raven thought,"This is my lucky day!"
Now's my chance to grab the bell and then be on my way.
Flying as fast as she could, she went to the Wood Nymph's tree,
She grabbed the bell and off she went. Her heart beat merrily.

Home again, home again, jig, jig, jog, she bounced into her nest.
She put her treasures safely away for now she needed a rest.
Tomorrow she would see what she could do to brighten up her nest.
As she slept the mist creeped in bringing with a deep, unrest.

The raven was so tired she did not hear a sound,
As the mist swirled and shimmered under her tree upon the ground.

Oh, my head, what have I done
I always thought mead was a lot of fun
But now I see I had too much of it to drink
Spent most of the night with my head in the sink

The Wood Nymph thought about yesterday’s jaunt
She’d only meant to give Endora a taunt
But finding the house so empty and bare
She took the mead.....more than her share

She would have to make it up to Endora some how
But her head was all she could think about now
Later on she would make a berry pie
To bring to Endora and tell her why

Why the mead was all gone and the honey pot broached
And say she was sorry that she had encroached
And how she had been saved by the smell of the honey
And how it had helped her stop feeling funny

But as she thought about yesterday’s trip
She remembered the mist and how it did grip
With the music and the colors and soothing sound
Till she knew not who she was or what was around

The honey had saved her, that was no lie
But what was that mist, and she gave a sigh
There are so many things in this Wood, we must be wary
But this new strange thing is really scary

She wondered what had happened to her shiny bell
She had no hint, she could not tell
The Water Troll would now be on the prowl
With a smile on his face and drool from his jowl

He would home in on his bell’s tingly sound
And heaven help anyone who was around
Cause the Troll was a mean one to be sure
And his hunt for the bell it would endure

So whoever had the bell would be his prey
And they had better take precautions today
The Wood Nymph would gladly give her spell
To save the one who had taken the bell

All you had to do was to sprinkle it with dew
And say, "I am the only one who can hear you"
Then wiggle your toes and give your hands a magick roll
And that would protect it from the Troll

So then she made a pie with berries from the Wood
And while it was baking it smelled so very good
To bring to Endora and finally make her peace
So hopefully all of their battles would cease

Then they could make medicine from the honey and the mead
To fight off the mist, this was just what they would need
They had to work together to fight off this new woe
So the Wood would be safe wherever they might go

Maybe Endora and her magick was the trick
To discover what to do about the mist so thick
So she set out on the path to Endora’s she would hie
To ask her what to do and to bring her the pie
(E)

The raven was awakened by a terrible sound
Whatever it be was shakin' the ground.
She peeked out of her nest and what did  she see?
The ugliest Troll there could ever be!

The raven hopped up on her stick made deck
And looked down on the Troll that was madder than heck!!
She hollered down to him, "What makes you so mad?"
"Someone stole my shiny bell, the prettiest I had!"

"I heard it yesterday", his big voice boomed, "I know it's somewhere near!"
"Whomever has it better know, It's me that they should fear!"
The raven trembled, knowing well
That it was her that had the bell.

The beautiful bell was in her nest and safely under cover.
Bouncing from the nest and into the air, over the Troll she hovered.
The Water Troll crashed through the Wood, destroying all in his path.
She stayed high in the sky, fearing the grumpy Troll's wrath.

I need help now, she thought to herself, I really need it fast.
Stealing I'll never do again!   It's forever in my past!
There was no question, she knew in her heart, what she had to do;
With breakneck speed, wings flapping hard, to the Wood Nymph's tree she flew.

Nothing could ease her worried mind, the smell of pie so yummy
Or the thought of Endora's pot, filled with warm, golden honey.
Finally, she made it to the Wood Nymph's tree and knocked loudly on the door.
When the Wood Nymph answered, she thought to herself, My she looks very poor!

"I've come to say I'm sorry", she said, "I'm the one who stole your bell
And now there is a grumpy, mean Troll crashing through the dell.
I'd bring it back but I am afraid the tinkle the Troll will hear,
And of all the scary things in the Wood, it is him I truly fear.

If you help me I promise to make a pact.
Your beautiful bell, Endora's ring, I shall bring right back.
Endora doesn't know just yet, that it was me who stole her ring.
I don't want it anymore for bad luck it is sure to bring.

There is something else that I need help with,
the mist that creeps on the wooded floor.
It sounds and looks so beautiful, but it nerves me to the core.
I've come to you with open wings, hoping to make things right.
Now I know that stealing is bad.  I've finally seen the light."

She made her plea and now had to wait for the Wood Nymphs reply
And as she sat and waited, a tear rolled down her eye.

Windigo smiles, Windigo sings
Raven flies by on unsteady wings
To each they turn, Wood nymph & Witch
Windigo dances closer, making them twitch

Magic and Malice are indeed afoot
night moves in dark as soot
Nymph and Witch to shelter, they race
Raven, waiting impatiently in place.

The glittering mist glides along the ground
aimed at the shack, intending to surround
All watch silently, dryad, satyr and gnome
As their tricks and spite brings her home.

Within, Witch and Nymph huddle in fright
Windigo moves with purpose, shining bright.
While Raven... messenger of the gods,
perched in the rafters... suddenly remembers and nods

Safe inside the shack they wait,
Witch and Nymph questioning their fate.
Their battles once ill-begotten,
are now past forgotten.

Long had Windigo stood, enshired in stone,
waiting for a successor of flesh and bone.
And so the Nymph had been marked upon her birth,
to grow and thrive with peace and mirth.

The time has come, the time is near
Windigo sings drawing the Nymphs spirit near
The Witch has heard and knowledge dawns
but unconcerned, the Raven yawns.

Through out the wood the Witch's spell is cast
bird, beast and tree, called to stand fast
They fight to hold the Windigo at bay,
their success lasting but 30 nights and a day.

Long has it been since Raven watched this dance
knowing the Nymph's mind is deep in trance.
Raven remembers the last Guardian born
and counsels them not to mourn.

For the gods have long known the Nymphs true fate
and begin the transformation through Deaths gate
From Wood Nymph to Guardian of the Land
her higher calling is at hand.

Shift and shimmer, whispering soft
Windigo carries the new Guardian aloft
All through the wood, a tremble and sigh
as the Witch tenderly says her good-bye

The Nymph, her spirit laid shining and bare
caresses all, Her power spreading with love and care.
And so, the windigo moves on, her purpose fullfilled
as a new power across the land is spilled.

Thank you all for the words you let me read,
It touches my heart and fills it with glee.

To the one who has gone to Summerland,
I wish I could have known you and shook your hand.

But rest asured, from January to December,
The legacy you began, the love you gave,
 ...........this Dragon shall always remember.
