LeechcraftBy Stephen Pollington. This book primarily deals with Leechcraft (Leech is the Old English world for "heal" or "healing") but cover so much Anglo-Saxon plantlore, magic, runes, charms and beliefs it's a veritable treasure-trove of Germanic Lore. Thankfully, it's written by a "proper scholar" and there's not one bit of New Age drivel in sight! It's also published by Anglo-Saxon Books who seem incapable of printing anything bad. The ISBN is 1-898281-23-8 Recommended by Karen Recommended by »®ed«·»Ph¤enïX«, 4/8/2003.

The Green Mantle - An Investigation Into the Lost Knowledge of PlantsBy Michael Jordan. Being interested in plantlore I was looking forward to this book when I first heard it announced. I have not been disappointed. Michael Jordan has produced a wonderful look at the sacred and profane world of flora and I highly recommend it. Unlike some of the more excitable New Age authors writing on plants, Jordan has done his research properly and it shows. When he mentions that the May Pole is most likely a representation of Yggdrasil rather than some ridiculous phallic symbol it demonstrates that he's an author who knows his subject and approaches it properly. Areas covered include Biblical Plants, narcotic plants, symbolic trees, herbs and the great herbals, holy trees and the modern attitude to the "Green Mantle". Whether you are new to plantlore or well-versed in it, this book is a gem. The ISBN number is 0-304-35589-5 Recommended by Karen, also Highlander Recommended by »®ed«·»Ph¤enïX«, 4/8/2003.
