Well its that time of year again... I'm getting the urge to redesign my environment. Those that have known me long enough to see my home, know that it is constantly changing both with the years and the seasons. I like to walk into a room and be interested by it by both colour and design. Folks shook their heads in disbelief when I said I was painting my bedroom in midnight blue (with accents of sand and white)... looks awesome (mind you the massive brass bed is an stunning centre-piece, lol) I like contrasts, jewel tones, silks and stone. Last Fall I did my livingroom... I went to the earth for this one, sage & dark moss green, stone textures, lots of plant-life and dark velvet pillows... I like it alot, however one thing remains undone... The Window(s). I have this massive expanse of glass that opens onto a wide unobstructed eastern horizon. lol... in fact, summer mornings, you'd do well to keep your sunglasses by your bed in order to pass through the blaze of light those windows let in... I'm over 100 feet off the ground with only glass and blue sky between me and the sun... The window is 8 feet wide by 5 feet, with 4 smaller windows 2 by 2. I want to design a stain-glass pattern for the top two panels. Something pagan, something spiritual, something geometeric ... something that will come alive when the sun rises. Now keep in mind that I will not be working with glass (my budget won't allow it), instead I have found a substance that is kind of flexible plastic film in the most remarkable colours (deep and rich) along with it comes a kind of fake leading ( lol, sorry Imbas if all this makes your craftsmen heart cringe) but it is a material I can work with and maybe do things one couldn't with glass ... ANYways, I want to use blues, greens and golds, but I am at a loss for design ideas and thought I'd see if anyone in here might have some ideas or notions that will spark the creative genius that has to live here, lol On a side note, there is a 6 inch shelf the runs the length of the window, I'm considering a mini herb garden for it (or part of it) Looking forward to hearing from you, Red |

Hmm...it might be interesting in the four bottom boxes to distribute four of the more ubiquitous geometric symbols that fit nicely into an even square space like that, and then reserve the top two portions for something a little more organic? I had a layout idea using the Pentacle, Septagram, Triple Moon, and the Unicursal Hexagram...whipped up a little (admittedly quite ugly) picture...not that I expect you to do this, but hopefully it might inspire some ideas? Excuse the colors, pixelation, etc...was just kind of a rush job to get the idea down. I guess two good issues to keep in mind would be a) what colors symbolically/aesthetically fit the symbols the best and b) is there any reason for a preferred ordering of the symbols? I'm interested to see what ideas other people have. |

One thing I forgot to mention ... The windows are high. This means that the top of my head is level with the cross bar. lol pretty convient, eh? I have full view with the botton windows and decorating opportunity for the top. I like the light and view, but because the panels begin at the top of my head all I see is the roof of my balcony and sky .... sooo perfect designing space :o) |

"The pain, the pain" said in my best Mr. Smith voice.....(Lost In Space) So the decorating idea is for the top two windows? And yes, you can do a LOT with vinyl that you cannot do easily with glass. A lot less edges required, and more complex curves are possible. And the cost is probably 1% of a custom glass piece. Perhaps, I could make some suggestions, but can you narrow it down a bit? Along what lines are you thinking? And remember, while you have two windows, you don't neccessarily need two different images, One large image on two panes could be interesting too! |

Good Morning Imbas.... I'm glad you ventured in to this discussion as well, despite the ...pain, lol I am looking for something with one or all of these things in mind.... occult/pagan, geometric, spiritual, nature ... something that is artistic and powers the room with light and colour (blues, greens & golds) I would perfer to use the top 2 panels as 1 whole... unless the 2 panels are 2 segments of a picture (2 pics but related) .... hmmmmm... kinda like a picture book.... |

Red, Do you have lighter and darker shades of your colors? Do you think it might be interesting to do a day/night scene with one panel using lighter shades and the other using darker? |

Just got back from doing my taxes <wince> and came straight over here ... lol.. yes I am eager to do this project. Hiya Joe ... hope your feeling better today :o) Can you explain what you mean about lighter/darker colours? No sure how viable a night scene is since the only light that reaches this high is moonlight (if you are refering to the windows picking up outside lights like streetlamps) ... or... do you mean 2 scenes, one for each panel... one a daytime scene and the second night? ... Intriguing notion. |

>> Can you explain what you mean about lighter/darker >> colours? Well, you have mentioned "blues" and "greens" and "golds"...I'm wondering how much variation in "blues" and "greens" and "golds" you have...are there 3 or 4 different hues of each available, or just one, or insanely many, or what? >> No sure how viable a night scene is since the only light >> that reaches this high is moonlight (if you are refering to >> the windows picking up outside lights like streetlamps) ... >> or... do you mean 2 scenes, one for each panel... one a >> daytime scene and the second night? Yes, that's actually what I meant...just had an image of my mind of the same scene, mirrored on both panels, but in one panel it is day and in the other panel it is night...the night panel would use darker colours, I assume. Had the idea of a tree rising up on the outside, with branches reaching into toward the centre with geometrical symbols in the branches...and in the very centre (which the branches don't quite reach, leaving an open space), the sun/moon, split between the two panels. Have you had any good ideas of your own, yet? |
