I want to build a labyrinth. The urge to create it is over whelming and I want it for the next solstice. I've begone to design a few plans and ideas, locations and construction. Its been building in my head and I can already see it. Have some hiking to do before then though. <walks away muttering and scribbling> |

Perhaps I am talking to myself on this thread at this point ... lol. But you must be used to my rambles by now .... I've been thinking about something all day. It starts with the fact that I woke up feeling utterly wretched... physically. I had finally had 8 hours sleep (dreamless at that) but my legs and back are killing me. Stiff and sore I feel like one does after lifting heavy stuff all day or like I got hit from behind by something. My voice has been a mere shadow of itself all day ... hoping its back tomorrow! Now the fact is that the only thing remotely strenuous I did yesterday was make the labyrinth. It wasn't hard to do ... I chose my places and poked thin sharp stakes into soft earth, wrapped string around them and poured seed, 2 hours work, tops. This leads me to believe that a lot more energy goes into these kinds of things. Designed to actually do something on a mystical and metaphysical level, they have purpose. Purpose requires intent, intent requires ones own energy ... you either have it or you don't. Your own body generates its transferable energy, a very good reason to take care of yourself when you're working with it and spiritual energy. Lesson learned here ... lol, at least I didn't get sick before hand .... which has been known to happen! The following is a picture shared by the local Asatru group (thank you): |

Certainly you are NOT talking to yourself here! This is a very interesting series of posts! I find it extremely annoying that we couldn't be there to walk this and feel this energy! I also find it interesting that Nymph could feel your energy, Red, and you wake up depleted the next day. Could that indicate that you either put too much of your own personal energy into the labyrith, or that somehow you are still connected to it, which is draining your energy? Is there someway to ground the labyrith in order to switch the energy of it off of you and onto the earth? The whole experience sounds like it was quite the experience for all the lifeforms in the area! At the Betwixt convention we should have one of these! Perhaps it's creation can be a team creation so as not to drain any one person's energy too much though! |

You're not talking to yourself. I find your posts very interesting. And because of you I have started (in my mind) to work on atleast one on my own... But I do have a quest for you. Someone I know have promissed us to paint a wall for us. He is very good at it. And I was thinking of asking him to paint an labyrinth on the wall in our future bedroom. Is that a good or a bad idea, you think? -Serena- |

Hi Imbas ... I do indeed believe I sunk a good deal of my own energy into the crafting of this beastie. In fact, I deliberately waited to be the last one to leave so I could seal the energy inside. To my sight it was lit like a beacon by the time dusk set in. I don't think I am intimately connected to it anymore, but it will always exist in my psyche and as an imprint at the site. In the first post of this series, the urge came upon me and I had intended to gift it to the gods ... that never changed, it simply became a bigger gift to be shared among many. As far as grounding the labyrinth ... the energy is being naturally dispersed by becoming part of the living environment, in the flesh as it were of those who consume it. How this is going to affect my tenuous connection, I dunno ... my shamanistic studies would indicate that it would simply bring me closer to the web of life ... or spread me further? lol ANYways ... it WAS quite the experience, and one I plan to tap into on this full moon :o) I wish all of you could have been there to experience this ... sooo, I've put it on the agenda for the Betwixt convention... then I can put all of you to work, lol!! Hiya Serena ... I think a labyrinth on a wall is a fine idea ... granted as you can see, I'm a bit biased, lol. I would however chose the colours carefully :o) keep it soft, you don't want to flood your sleep area with high energy. And decide before hand if you want it a size that allows you to run your hand through ALL the paths or if it will be visual only. Good luck, would love a pic when its done! Thanks for the company on this thread, I was afraid it had taken on the tone of a rambling, mumbling madwoman, lol Bright Blessings! |

Red... you did such an amazing job! It tears me up that i had to leave before having had a chance to walk your paths, but the odds of falling and messing it up were too great. The picks are wonderful, they capture it well. Hey Nymph do I know you? The nic is new to me. I can't wait to see what you come up with next Red! I'm aching for a drum circle, gage park or the beach perhaps.. yes the beach... interested? btw i have a pic of Lady M in your labrynth if you'd like to see it! xox Ratty |

Hey Ratty, I too wish you had had the strength to walk the labyrinth ... it might actually have helped. Maybe we can venture out to the one in Burlington and you can see what I mean. We could make a picnic of it, interested? I'd love to see the pic of Lady M if you'd like to send it to me, thanks! Oh I am always interested in the beach and am open to just about anything you'd care to plan. Have a great day |

Heres some pictures I took today of the Burlington Labyrinth ... its modeled on the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth in France. I walked this one singing a basic elemental chant. By the time I reached the heart my entire body was buzzing. WOW what a rush! .... |

This is sweet, Red. Thanks for the pics. I am trying to figure out how/where I can do one down here. It would be so neat. I wonder if I can get the SPA up at the college to help me out. Hmm. . . .

Well its done! 88 lbs of birdseed, some stakes and a can of spray chalk and we had another beautiful labyrinth that will erase itself over the next week or two curtesy of the local wildlife. I done have a camera worth using anymore, but its the same place same style as the one posted on this thread. I really really love these tools of the mind and spirit and am heavily considering one for my bedroom wall .... hmmm perhaps made out of sand and peebles so I can trace it with my eyes closed. Anyways, I see that the link I provided is screwed up soooo .... here it is once more: |
