For me, inspiration comes in sound, colour and the interplay of a talented wordsmith .... if your words produce visuals for me you've done a damn good job, lol.
Art .... colourful, intricate and expressive art, the kind that captures my imagination and makes me wonder about it. Or perhaps its so interesting I want to write about the mood or the story behind the colour. Like that picture above ... the colour is unusual, but to me the imagery is highly sensual, it contains movement and yet seems eternally frozen in a dream state.
Sound ... I could not easily live without my music. I like a broad spectrum, but my most inspirational ones touch me heart and soul. they make me want to dance or sing. Music is both the message and the medium, it has always inspired me.
Words ... the are often the product of my inspiration. As a communicator, language is the bread, butter and lucious jam of my life, lol Where would I be without words? Anyways ... when you read this passage from William Blake, you can not help but hear the power in it. First time I heard it recited outloud on a Loreena McKennit cd, it stopped me in my tracks and gave me goose-bumps!
O for a voice like thunder, and a tongue
To drown the throat of war! ~
When the senses are shaken,
and the soul is driven to madness,
Who can stand? When the souls of the oppressed
Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand?
When the whirlwind of fury comes from the Throne of God,
when the frowns of his countenance
Drive the nations together, who can stand?
When Sin claps his broad wings over the battle,
And sails rejoicing in the flood of Death;
When souls are torn to everlasting fire,
And fiends of Hell rejoice upon the slain,
O who can stand? O who hath caused this?
O who can answer at the throne of God?
The Kings and Nobles of the Land have done it!
Hear it not, Heaven, thy Ministers have done it!
~ William Blake
