"I want to be consistant with the truth, as it reveals itself to me." -Ghandi I ran across this somewhere and thought it would be interesting to see other perception as well as my own. For any of us to be fully conscious intellectually we should not only be able to detect the world views of others but be aware of our own- why it is ours and why in light of so many options we think it is our own. Give your essential rock-bottom answers to the following eight questions. Think well and hard on them, be as elaborate, or as simple as you wish. 1. WHAT IS PRIME REALITY- THE REALY REAL? (ex. To this we might answer god or the gods, or the material cosmos, or thought, etc) 2. WHAT IS THE NATURE OF EXTERNAL REALITY, THAT IS, THE WORLD AROUND US? (Here our answers point to whether we see the world as created or autonomous, as chaotic or orderly, as matter or spirit, or whether we emphasize our subjective, personal relationship to the world or its objectivity apart from us.) 3. WHAT IS A HUMAN BEING? (ex. To this we might answer a highly complex machine, a sleeping god, a person made in the image of god, a naked ape, etc) 4. WHAT HAPPENS TO A PERSON AT DEATH? (ex. Here we might reply personal extinction, transformation to a higher state, nothing, etc) 5. WHY IS IT POSSIBLE TO KNOW ANYTHING AT ALL? (ex. Here we might say we are made in the image of an all-knowing god, or consciousness and rationality developed as a means of survival during evolution, etc) 6. HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG? (ex. We might say the bible, right and wrong are determined by human choice alone, it is neccesary for survival to know what is moral and what is not, etc) 7. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF HUMAN HISTORY? (ex We might say to realize the purposes of god, to learn, to make paradise on earth, etc) 8. WHAT AND WHO ARE/IS GOD(s), AND WHAT ARE THE ATRIBUTES OF GOD(s)AMD HOW DOES GOD INTERACT WITH THE WORLD? (ex We might say a loving creator, a figment of our imagination, lets us have our own will, etc)

To be consistent with the truth as it reveals itself to you, one must be constantly aware of the state of 'being'. A little exercise I use which if I remember correctly is Tibetan, is to constantly 'check' myself to assure that I'm living in the moment. An example is this moment now as I'm typing to you I'm aware of several things... The feel of the keyboard under my fingers, it's hardness yeilding to my touch, the slight texture on the keys and the smoothness of the wrist support, the candle burning to my right, it glows and throws little lights around the surface of the computer and it flickers on the frame of the screen, the subtle glow of the screen and the colors, shades of purple, blue, yellow, white, red green, etc... the fabric of the chair against my skin and the hard, cool surface of the floor on the bottom of my left foot and the coolness of the desk against my right knee. There are aromas and sounds here too, my huband breathing and typing next to me on his computer, the candle in asian spices, the smell of steak and candied butternut squash, the smell of my birds and the sounds of them moving around behind me, the television, Bill Maher is on in the background, the refridgerator is running, as is the air... you see where I'm going? It's about total awareness of this exact moment, it's about stopping and drinking it all in and recognizing each thing that lends itself to your environment. All these other things, the 'what is' questions, the what ifs... I have found that most of them are different for us all, I have died and come back, I can tell you what happened to me and how it felt, but that doesn't mean you'd experience it the same way as a matter of fact, I only know of one other person whose death experience matched my own. To short cut it and cliché it to death, it's all relative and it's all about perspective, but to know your own truth, you have to begin with awareness and awareness begins with the first rule of all magic and great journeys, 'Know Thyself' and 'To thine ownself be true.' 4. He either dissipates as not having the knowlage or training enough to keep a cohesive vessel to carry his Will on anymore, he has the vessel, but no direction thus wandering aimlessly for eternity, he has a vessel and direction and goes exactly where he wants to doing exactly what he wants/needs to be done, and knows that everything is Right.
5. See #3
6. We don't, we never will, we'll keep bickering about it for the rest of eternity for the sole reason because we are not a Hive Mind nor are the barriers of the Universal Unconscioueness broken (yet...)
7. So that we may remember how it is we are to be here and to be able to repeat the same mistakes that we had done before, and then bitch about not seeing the cycle again.
