Here's a somewhat of a interesting thing that happened recently. A close friend of mine had an uncle who recently killed about 4 or 5 people. The story being like this, the guy's father was wheelchair bound and an invalid. The neighbors were supposed to be taking care of the old man while the son was away. He came home to find the neighbors teenaged sons doing all manner of horrible crap to this old man. Well, he went over an told the parents who were supposed to be watching the old man what he had found the kids doing. The parents pretty much told him to go <censored> himself. A little later the guy had to slip out and run some errands and had to leave his dad unattended...he comes back and finds those kids doing the same thing...so he goes and gets his rifle, shoots the three kids...and goes over and shoots the parents as well...

The point to this, my buddy is a bit shook up over this because he can't see his uncle doing somethign like this...and he says that he feels that the punishment was just for the kids and parents...and feels like he is a horrible person for feeling that way...and was looking for some sort of moral anchor in me for this...well, the thing is, i would have probably done the same thing as his uncle had i found someone tormenting my dad werehe in the same situation...so i had no other real answer other than banalities to offer...anyhow...just interesting...mainly rambling...people are the oddest things...

Well ... I have no idea what the heck I would say under the circumstances... I mean really! Just what DO you say? Murder, torture and mayhem are the most repugnant of human actions, there are no winners in this scenario.

Well my mouth is agape. Firstly my emotional response might be to do the same or worse to those people. My logical(and much stronger) response would be to get the police over immediately. If these teens again accosted my father and the police had no say or told me they weren't going to do anything I would exact my revenge. Hell hath no fury..... Believe me I could have come up with worse to do to them as well. What to say to the friend? Well I would say that extreme emotional pain can cause people to snap and do things they would not normally do. That the uncle although wrong in his actions did what he thought the most logical at the time. As well these people deserved to be punished but it was not his uncle's place. Your friend is not a horrible person to feel the way he did. Most people think of things that would be "morally wrong" when their family is tortured. What keeps us from going insane is the fact that we can have these thoughts and choose not to act on them. The poor uncle just had a psychological break. I feel so sorry for his whole family having to deal with this situation, especially grandpa. I pray they all get help to deal with it.
