The one thing I see wrong with this theory is that Plato said Atlantis sank which obviously Eire hasn't...

The part of the theory about the sinking of the North Sea shoal or "Dogger Bank" I hadn't read about before. It certainly seems to be a reasonable explanation for the legend of the destruction of Atlantis. Who knows the author may be correct!

Actually, there's quite of bit of old mythology that implies that Ireland was not Atlantis but was one of the places where Atlanteans settled. The Tuatha Dé Danann ("People of the goddess Danu") are legended to origionally come from the "islands in the west".

BEMINI ISLANDS!!! Its right there! Take a look for yourselves! There's your Atlantis.

 

Imbas: I heard that the Tuatha De Dannan came from a nothern country... I was under the impression it was Denmark or something, but its just an impression - I am likely to be wrong. I have also heard that the Atlanteans also went to Egypt and  Mexico as well. Interesting stuff isn't it .

Could be Denmark I suppose. The legends just say islands to the west. Other than legends, myths, and stories there's no real proofs they even existed. They go so far back that they're considered gods. Of course, we don't know where the Firbolg and the Fomorians came from either, either could have been Atlantean colonies, if they existed. Yes, I have heard Egypt, South America, and North America were all areas once colonized by Atlantis. It's all legend though, nothing concrete yet.
