When it comes to the debates here in America, most people take it as the Christian God since the ones who wrote the Constitution etc., were WASPS.  However, I personally do not take offense to it.  I make the choice to put my own definition of which god it is.  I will however refrain from starting a discussion concerning whether or not religion has a place in government because I am still not sure where I stand on that issue.  But for religious references to be included in songs of patriotism, I personally have no problems with it.  Of course, I don't necessarily agree with banning prayer from school either, but it should be open to all; the prayers should be more open and not geared strictly towards the Christian faith.
