What a neat question Red.
Difficult and soul searching... but a groovy question none the less.
I guess one of my reasons for my being here is generally to try to "make things better for people" I know that sounds like something very vague, but its true in many aspects in my life. My job is in the medical profession and I help people there in finding out what's wrong so the doctor can perhaps heal them. I also am there to comfort people, perhaps provide a little humor to a sick person or to educate them in their disease process.
I've also tried to make things better for my children. Essentially since birth, I have tried to teach them how to be independant and self sufficient. Sometimes they are frustrated because I make them be so independant, ie, they wash their own laundry, and cook a great deal of their own food and they have a number of other chores and as they get older, the lists grow bigger... BUT they are learning to be independant. Sometimes that independance comes back and bites me in the ass though, as they are still teenagers and have to endure 'Mom's rules' and they butt heads with me... A small price to pay though if you think about it. When they are 18 years old, they can go out on their own, and know how to live life and make it on their own.. If only they would enjoy doing their homework and appreciate that quest for knowledge a little more.
I've also become very politically active in the past several months and I will probably remain politically active for the remainder of my life. I truly believe that a democratic path is needed to help the masses in this country. I have mourned over the loss of so many house positions to republicans and of course the seeming loss of John Kerry.
I think this nation as a whole would benefit from the democratic to midline viewpoint more so than the ultra conservative right wing that has taken over this country. The Bible reading. god (and terrorist) fearing, don't read the newspapers, people really need to be brought into a light, instead of aimlessly following the Republicans like sheeple. Heck, maybe someday I will even run for town council or something like that?
It also kills me to see friends grieving or angry, or ill or just bummed out and I really really hope that I can help my friends just by being there to listen, in case they want to vent.
My spirituality is something I am still exploring and learning and some may think I am losing my focus because I try to 'prove' aspects of paganism with known scientific fact. Though I believe paganism is the right spiritual niche for me, I would LOVE to somehow prove synchonicity, or to show proof that someone doing astral projection can actually break the bonds of their human body and go somewhere else. Wouldn't it be cool to, without a shadow of a doubt, proove that there are spirits all amoung us?
My goals may seem trivial to some, or foolish or unwise to others but they are my goals.
peace
