From: WingedLightCarrier Sent: 2/6/2005 12:10 AM "I bought a book on rune dice, but I didn't really like it because it just seemed much to comical for such a serious topic. I have not looked at Rune Cards although I read in Silver RavenWolfs book (...Silver Broomstick) that she prefers the rune cards. I picked up a starter set of Scarabs that came with a book and they seem quite interesting...I like the idea of adding them to my readings to enhance accuracy. Red when it comes to using Staves explain the process of casting and reading them. Do you carve the runic alphabet on the staves? Do you use 25 Staves?" Winged. |

Sorry for butting in on your thread here...lol. But I found it interesting. Runes were the first divination I learned. I haven't used them in a very long time because I just haven't ever had a set that really resonates. I've been inspired to create rune dice from this. I wish I could make them right away but I want to use a particular wood, blackwood, that comes from Africa and I need to figure out how to get it because I'd prefer pre-made cubes (it's a very hard wood.) Anyhow thanks for the info! P.S. The sigils are awesome...very nice tags! |

Red I have been studying this sigil and I tell you what, it is really speaking to me more and more. I am seeing the chaos and the balance to contain it. In my path, I am always worried about no being worthy enough, or 'good' enough to be considered by the universe to be talented or gifted with this mission. I see now that even the 'destructive forces within' can be contained with balance. I always wondered why it was Hecate who called to me. I am seeing a pattern as well of realizing self worth, and opening to enlightenment--accepting myself and trusting myself. I was a bit afraid to start doing readings because I didn't want to not be perfect at it. I guess I thought it was about me, but in some ways it is about me but not in the way I thought. I told you this sigil is powerful for me. |

is also... which becomes.... ... Intuitive spiritual warrior, protected on a spiral path and blessed with joy and prosperity. One who is open to the light. May I suggest you trace it with your finger (start at the open tip)... you'll see how easily it can be applied anytime, anywhere :o) |

Wonderful, I love this one as well. It reminds me of the cho Ku Rei symbol in Reiki. What is your impression of this one? |

My impression is of a spiral... There are 6 basic runes in this one Wunjo (joy), Laguz (intuition), Keno (light), Fehu (prosperity), Tyr (arrow), Eolh (protection) The blue ones are your intials and the green ones are the manifested runes.... the spiral is open - an ancient symbol of death & rebirth, one which energy flows easily through and in this case drives downward into the heart energizing what it touches. Look at the post regarding this sigil, you can see the steps I provided... if you look at the first set of runes you can see where Raido can easily manifest (in fact it is there on your dragon tag, lol) creating movement and direction ... however, it seemed to me that there was more to it then that so when you examine the second set of 3 runes you can see were Mannaz the rune of Self begins to manifest... here I knew I was getting closer, but it still wasn't finished. I was compelled to move beyond the essence of Self... and so with a few more twists and turns, the spiral-like shape presented itself and it was simply 'the right one' Call it intuition, call it an eye for design, call it whatever you like... but thats what rose up out of WLC for you, lol :o) Bright Blessings, Red |

Thank you for explaining the journey to this sigil. I understand the basic concept (you explained it and illustrated it well) I just wondered how you got to the spiral...now I know. The spiral is symbolic in my life and in my life's work as a healer. Thank you for giving it back to me. |

I completely missed it. Does the significance change with this additional rune? I know the numbers change. I did some study on the other sigil you did for me, specifically on the balanced runes and a theme kept coming up....-hidden things was one of the themes. Advice almost to look for what is hidden......recognize deception--see clearly without blinders on. Now, I would have to say...I didn't see Eihwaz in the mix. |

Eihwaz simply brings a strength and defensiveness to the overall equation.... an ability to put ones inner self into stronger, safer position. |

I'm trying to consider ways that Wyrd could be incorporated into the dice. I feel strongly about that rune and don't like doing readings without it. A five-rune toss wouldn't work because Wyrd would always be in the spread...so one thought I had was that one cube could have just dots put on 5 faces and one face left blank. If the blank shows up then it could signify that rune being a part of the reading. Not sure yet.... |

I think that would work well Nox... you could make the 5th di completely decorative with the single blank face. Red |

Heres a question for you: I am playing with the idea of exploring single runes further and sharing insights about them from our different perspectives. I'd like to name it Rune Talk... now the question is... are you interested in doing this and where the heck can we put it?... Individual rune threads? ... A single thread with the various runes discussed on it? ...or attached to the existing Rune Lore thread or this one? ANY feedback would be very helpful. Thanks! |

I would love to explore the runes more deeply - I like the individual rune thread suggestion. Tragonryder |

How about putting it under Rune Lore? Since there is already a Rune Board (so to speak) let's do it there. I love the name 'Rune Talk.' I can't wait to see what develops. Winged |
