just got news today that one of my students has been diagnosed with acute leukemia and things don't look good .... she'll spend the next 30 days in the hospital as they try to combat the rapid spread of malignant cells. Wanted to cry when they gave me the news ... Gabi is a sweetheart who's had a real tough life up til she found a good foster home ... she took to me immediately and the first time I told her that I believed in her she jumped out of her desk and threw her arms around me almost knocking us both to the ground, lol. I pray with all my heart that the gods are kind to this little girl ... |

Sad news indeed Red, I hope she gets lots of love and more permanent support during this crisis. Sounds like she's received a lot of bad breaks in this life. I believe firmly in infinite reincarnation and existial experiences. I hope there's plenty of people around her to give her the love and knowledge of all the wonderous potentials that are there for her to choose. All of our hopes, desires, beliefs and will are much more powerful and far reaching than many come to realise. |

I often ask myself why babies have to suffer so. I know this child is hardly a baby and probably is wize beyond her years due to the life she has. Add my prayers to yours Red. Blessings Deidre |

Thanks for your well wishes on Gabi's behalf, its greatly appreciated. She has started the chemo, but has already lost so much weight that she looks wasted ... I'm praying the gods are kind and comfort her in her need. The rest of the students are holding up under the belief that she's coming back, and I won't tell them otherwise until I have to. |

Things have been up and down for this little girl. She had taken a turn for the worse when doctors realized that the leukemia had moved into her brain as well and the meds were suppressing her immune systems further, they were in the process of creating a mask for her in order to withstand the next round of chemo to her head. Just before 'Easter' I took a teddy bear around a local 'coven' of friends and asked them (they are aware of the situation) to send her their best wishes and/or strength. Three weeks ago we got news that the doctors have changed her medication to something that is supporting and strengthening her immune system, she's eating again and actually putting weight back on! Haven't heard anything recently so I keep my hopes up ... hoping to have her home soon if not back in class. Thank you for any well wishes and prayers on Gabi's behalf. |

A year and a day ... today, Gabi returned to class. She's taller, heavier and quieter. I hardly recognized her but I give thanks to the Gods and whatever prayers have given her another chance at Life. Theres been a good many ups and downs for this girl over the last year and she has had the strength to survive it all. Blessed Be! |
