Spirits of the Sacred Grove: The World of a Druid Priestess
Emma Restall Orr
For many, the word Druidry conjures up images of white-robed figures involved in esoteric rituals. But modern Druidry is not wrapped in a veil of secrecy - it is celebrated Openly, in the sunlight of the medow or the shady leafiness of a forest glade. Druids are passionate about the environment, and their worship is above all focused on Nature through the celebration of the changing seasons of the year. ~ (recommended by) BluMoonie

Gods and Myths of Northern Europe
H R Ellis Davidson
Generally considered a "classic" work in the Heathen community because the author did so much to bring together the lore and history of Germanicbeliefs. It is a scholarly and informative work but still remains accesible even to those who are unfamiliar with the mythology it covers. ISBN 0-14-020670-1 Recommended by Karen

Practical Magic in the Northern Tradition
Nigel Pennick
A decent basic introduction to the religious practices of the Norse, Celtic and Baltic cultures. A word of caution - this book should onlybe considered an introduction...further research from other sources should be taken before using this book as a "bible" of Northern magick traditions. ISBN 0-85030-757-0 Recommended by Highlander,

The Vikings: Lords of the Seas
Yves Cohat

This is an excellent book but would be especially good for those who are looking at Viking history for the first time. It is beautifully illustrated and gives a good general overview of Viking history and culture. I recommend it to newbies of both the Heathen and the re-enactment variety! I ISBN is 0-500-30015-1 Recommended by Karen

Wights and Ancestors
Jenny Blain
There are very few "how to" Heathen publications out there and those that there are tend to deal with blots and group activity. This, however, deals directly with the subject of creating and maintaining relationships with Wights (nature spirits/dryads/elves, etc) and ancestors. Includes information on Seidr and general Heathen concepts. Jenny takes a down-to-earth approach and doesn't baffle the reader with jargon or pretentious waffle! I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ENOUGH. GET IT IF YOU CAN. Recommended by Karen
