Use the Quick Launch Toolbar

One of the nice things about Windows is the Quick Launch Toolbar. This tool puts small icons next to the Start button, so you don't have to clutter up the desktop. I love it!

Unfortunately, this toolbar isn't visible when you launch Windows XP. The designers apparently were tired of it. You can get it back. Right-click the taskbar and click Toolbars. Then click Quick Launch.

The same steps work in Windows 98 and ME, if you don't have the toolbar. Those systems show the Quick Launch Toolbar by default.

It's easy to add shortcuts to the Quick Launch Toolbar. Click
Start>>Programs (All Programs in Windows XP). Right click the program for which you want a shortcut. Click Create Shortcut. Then drag the new shortcut to the Quick Launch Toolbar. If the Toolbar is too short, drag its right side to lengthen it.
