DAY 7
THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING
Everything comes from God alone.
Everything LIVES by His POWER,
and everything is for His glory. Romans 11;36 (LB)
The Lord has made everything for His own purposes. Proverbs 16:4
(NLT)
It's all for Him.
God's glory is the expression of His goodness and all his other intrinsic,
eternal qualities.
Where is the glory of God? Just look around. Everything created by God
reflects His glory in some way. In Nature we learn that God is powerful,
that He enjoys variety, loves beauty, is organized and is wise and creative.
The Bible says, "The heavens declare the glory of God". Psalm 19:1 (NEV)
Jesus came to earth so we could fully understand God's glory. "The Word
became flesh and lived among us. We saw His glory .... a glory full of
grace and truth. James 4:4 (Msg)
God's inherent glory is what He possess because He is God. It is His nature.
We cannot add anything to this glory, just as it is impossible for us to make
the sun shine any brighter.
Sin is loving anything more than God. Refusing to give God glory is prideful
rebellion, what caused satan's fall and ours.
None of us have given God the full glory He deserves from our lives. This
is the worst sin and the biggest mistake we can make. On the other hand,
living for God's glory is the greatest achievement we can accomplish with
our lives. God says, "They are my own people and I created them to bring
me glory". Isaiah 43:7 (TEV) So it ought to be the SUPREME GOAL OF
OUR LIVES.
We are commanded to recognize His glory, honor His glory, declare His
glory, praise His glory, reflect His glory, and live for His glory. l Chronicles 16:24;
Psalm 29:1; 66-2; 96-7; 2 Corinthians 3-18.
Why give God glory? Because He deserves it. We owe Him every honor
we can possibly give.
Jesus told the Father, "I brought glory to You on earth by doing everything
You told me to do" John 17:4 (NLT) Jesus honored the Father by fulfilling
his purpose on earth. We honor God the same way. When anything in
creation fulfill its purpose, it brings glory to God. Birds bring glory to God
by flying, chirping, nesting and other bird-like activities. St Irenaeus said,
"The glory of God is a human fully alive".
There are many ways to bring God glory but they can be summed up in
God's five purposes for your life.
We bring God glory by worshipping Him. Worship is our first responsibility
to God. We worship God by enjoying Him. Enjoying Him and His Presence
in every aspect of our lives. God wants our worship to be motived by love,
thanksgiving and delight, not duty. John Piper notes, " God is most glorified
in us by our being most satisfied in Him".
The Bible says, " Whoever accepts and trust the Son, gets in on everything,
life complete and forever!" John 3:36a (Msg)
QTC Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God's
glory?
Birds singing, a beautiful day, a day where almost everything goes
perfectly, the sky, already I know these things are God's glory. But I
should see it or look for it more in people. This chapter says everything
God created reflects His glory. So even our relatives or people we
know that we really dislike or know are wicked, some part, it may be
a small part, reflects their Creator. I must look for this and pray that
my life as an example, my behaviour, enlarges this small part of the
wicked and it spreads to salvation and change of attitude and hearts.
Those I love so much and who love me so much I know is God's glory
and gift. But doesn't the bible say it is easy to do good to those who
do good to you. So I must look for God's glory in the painful times
too, the rainy days, I already see it in the extraordinarly and
ordinary beautiful but in the horrible; even tragedies point towards
His glory as He has a reason for permitting them if not directly causing
them. As a testimony to Him. Faith is tried in the fire and comes out
more than gold. I must spend more time in thanksgiving. This brings
Him glory. Trusting Him is one of the main ways of bringing Him
glory. My trust in Him I pray is increasing, slowly but surely, daily.
God bless
