My sister called me awhile ago. My brother had been in to see the dr. and his bp was funky. They thought he had a heart murmur and did an echocardiogram. Turns out he needs open heart surgery for an enlarged aorta. Normal is something like 3 cm and his is 8. They said he was not to return to work and to do home and lay low until they can schedule it for next week sometime. My other sister is coming down to be here.

My dear nephew (my brother's son) had joined the service and is being shipped to Iraq this spring. Well, we called his brother and HE joined up, too. Stupid, stupid kids....

All in all, it has been a crappy night for news. My other sister, the one who lives up north, called yesterday to tell me that she found our Mom unresponsive the day before. She couldn't wake her up and she was crying - at first she had thought she was dead and it really scared her. She got her to the hospital and they did all kinds of tests but couldn't find what was wrong. She said she was a lot better yesterday but she has fallen a few times. She needs to get some help or move to an assisted care facility or something.

Just way too many things at the same time.

Anyway please keep my bro in your prayers. He is a jerk and a horrible father but he is still my bro and is only 42. He has a little girl who has juvenile diabetes, too.

Thank you,
Laurie

Laurie so sorry to have missed all these prayers from a heartbroken caring
sister and family member - you.  I was MIA round about this time due to
my sisters death.  Please give me an update.  Yes family can be jerks,
got a couple of them in mine too, but blood is blood or so they say.
~Also praying for your little niece.

I know you have not been too good for a while so extra big hugs
to you and may your spirits be uplifted and may He make His
Presence known to you in a very special gift wise way.

Your friend

Mary xoxo

Thank you, sweetie. We really have our share lately, don't we? Thanks for asking.

My brother is doing really well. He was able to go back to work with no restrictions and I THINK he is staying away from the booze. He just cannot drink with this heart problem or he might cause himself more injury. I think it has been good for his wife, too. They have had their share of problems (she drinks, too) but I think this shocked both of them into a change in lifestyle.

Unfortunately, my beloved nephew has left and will be going to Iraq. He is still here in the U. S. right now waiting to be sent. Now his brother has joined up and he will be leaving for basic training soon. It just makes me sick to think of these young boys going over there. Jesse is 21 and Jake will be 20 soon. Too young and innocent to be there.

My Mom is hanging in there. They never really figured out what the problem was. She has neuropathy and had a stroke a few years back so she has a hard time walking and her hands are becoming more and more crippled up. She is in a great deal of pain but the town where she lives has a pain clinic coming in and we are hoping they can help  her out.

My mother-in-law had her stroke at the same time as my bro's surgery. I was so torn as to what to do but he came through fine and so we left and then she passed. It was quite a spring.....

Hugs to you, hun
Laurie
