Spiderweb Munch

1 (12-ounce) package NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup creamy peanut butter, divided use
1/3 cup powdered sugar
3 cups toasted rice cereal
  1. Heat morsels and 3/4 cup peanut butter in small, heavy-duty saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth; remove from heat. Add sugar; stir vigorously until smooth.
  2. Place cereal in large bowl. Add 1 cup melted chocolate mixture; stir until well coated. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Using small metal spatula, shape into 10-inch circle with slightly raised 1-inch-wide border. Pour remaining chocolate mixture in center of circle; spread to border.
  3. For the Spiderweb: Place remaining peanut butter in small, heavy-duty plastic bag. Cut tiny corner from bag; squeeze to pipe concentric circles on top of chocolate. Using wooden pick or tip of sharp knife, pull tip through peanut butter from center to border. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm. Cut into wedges.

Makes 16 servings.

I think some chocolate covered apples would be good - how many will I need to bring?

Bewitching Chocolate Covered Apples

6 medium apples
6 wooden skewers or ice cream sticks
1 7oz. milk chocolate bar broken into pieces
1 T. shortening

Cover a tray with wax paper. Wash and dry apples. Insert a stick into the stem end of each apple.

Place chocolate and shortening into a microwave-safe bowl. Nuke on high for 1 minute, stirring every 30 seconds. If necessary nuke at high another 10 seconds, stirring after each heating. It is ready for use when chocolate is melted and smooth when stirred.

Dip apples into chocolate, twirl to remove excess chocolate. Place on tray and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Core apples, place in baking pan. On a few of the apples also cut a small hole in the side.

Prepare sauce by melting butter, stir in brown sugar until disolved. Add vanilla. Then stir in the cream.

pour over the apples Bake at 350 degrees until apples are tender. Remove to a tray. I put green clored cocnut on the tray first. When cool take gummy worms and have them as if crawling out of the top and cut a couple in half and put them in the holes onthe side.

    Buggy Slaw

1 ½ lb green cabbage, quartered, cored and shredded
3 tablespoon cider or malt vinegar
    2/3 cup mayonnaise
    1 small onion grated  (optional)
    2 medium carrot grated
¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
    1 pund raisins

In a large mixing bowl, toss the cabbage with the vinegar and salt. Grate the carrots and optional onion directly into the bowl.  Add raisins.Add the mayonnaise and toss well.

The slaw can be served immediately, but it is much better, more melded and tender,  if allowed to stand and tossed occasionally for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

For a very limp slaw, refrigerate several hours or overnight.

Top a steaming bowl of chili with a friendly (and edible!) breadstick spider.

Cauldron of Chili with Breadstick Bones

    1 pound lean ground beef
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 (14.5-ounce) cans Mexican-style stewed tomatoes, undrained
    2 (15-ounce) cans chili beans
    1 (11-ounce) refrigerated breadsticks
    1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
    Shredded cheddar cheese
    1. In 12-inch skillet, cook beef and onions over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in tomatoes and chili beans. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer uncovered 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    2. Preheat oven to 375°F (175°C).
    3. Unroll dough; separate at perforations into 6 breadsticks. Roll each 12 inches long. Carefully tie a loose knot in both ends of each breadstick and place on a greased baking sheet.
    4. Brush breadsticks with egg white. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
    5. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.
    6. Top individual servings of chili with cheese; serve with warm breadstick bones.

    Makes 6 servings.
