I weighed my cat the other day, (he's trained to just stand on the scale when I set him on it, lol) and when I was done I decided to weigh myself... I discovered that I have lost a total of 41 pounds since being diagnosed as Type II in late March of this year!  That was 5 pounds more than I thought I had lost!

I'm very happy about this - I've lost a THIRD of the total amount I need to lose to get to a 'normal' weight!  This is without making any special effort to exercise, also, due to problems with severe, disabling pain in my feet from peripheral neuropathy.  I'm on medication now for the pain, working on figuring out the most effective dosage, and am slowly becoming more and more active in my daily life, as the pain slowly gets better.

I celebrated by getting a new shower curtain, towels, washcloths, and a rug for my bathroom, which greatly needed a colour boost!  That's a change for me, as I used to celebrate with food binging... those days are GONE.

Another good thing about my weight loss is, it's a happy 'side effect' from eating low carbs to help keep my glucose levels under control.  (I should also mention that I brought my A1c down from 7.9 to 5.6 three months after diagnosis.)  I'm not on any medication, and am in normal ranges from changes in diet alone...

I just couldn't keep this to myself, and had to tell everybody!

Way to go San!  I am presently working on getting my bs's under control, I have been type 2 for about 5 years and was doing real well until about 3 months ago my A1c's have been climbing from 6 to 9.3 at the present, the doc is trying a new medication so hopefully this works.  I too, am working hard with eating and exercise...

Thanks guys!  I have to say that just a few months ago, I thought I would never feel better, or would ever be thinner... I finally have hope that yes, even though I may be diabetic, it doesn't mean my life is over, that I can get healthier in spite of it.  If I can do this, with my long-standing food addictions and eating disorders and fear of going hungry, then other people can do this too.

And cats ARE the best, in my opinion... the cat I was weighing is 13 years old, I've had him since he was 3 months old, and he has been a big joy in my life.  We also have a 'new' cat now in the household, who is only 1 1/2 years old, who hasn't learned how to get weighed yet, lol!  But we're working on it... she tries to bite the scale at present, but she's starting to get the hang of it...
