as a new yorker and awoman, I cannot stand Hilary Clinton. She moved to
Westchester NY before her husband ever left office, getting a senator seat
in NY without ever having lived in new york or knowing the needs of their
citizens. I will give her that she had done a good job but personally, I
can't stand her. I believe that is the only reason she stayed with her
cheating husband, for her own political gain. I could be bias because i
have lived in and near Weschester and am sick of people who don't make their
own way and get away with unjustices other would have to pay dearly for.
Don't even get me started on Martha Stewart! The woman lied, cheated
possibly millions of people out of a potentially life saving cancer
medication by puling her stock with insider information and lounged her
prison sentence away exercising and getting tv shows together and working it
out so that starting tomorrow, after only a weekend off, she will be back at
the helm of her empire making $900,000per year. If I had to pick a good
female candidate I always respected Christy Todd Whittman of New Jersy. I
liked her political views, she was very personable with everyone, not just
the rich, and a strong leader. Unfortunately she has had a bout with cancer
and I have not seen her in the news lately. Lori

Did I say Hilary Clinton--I meant Hilary Swank--no, just kidding...
But seriously though, I understand your feelings about Hilary coming to New York & being an outsider so to speak & how this didn't sit well with many New Yorkers--I'm Canadian so I have no loyalties to the Democrats or Repubs--I just think it would be very interesting to see Hilary Clinton run against Condalisa Rice(sp?)--Give the women a chance--We've seen what a mess men have made now for 100s of years--It would be fascinating & would make for great entertainment (Reality TV) to see Rice vs. H.Clinton...
PS--I'm a man by the way & I've had enough of the testosterone politics!--Marg. Thatcher, Golda Meir & B.Bhutto (Pakistan) managed to do pretty good jobs when given the chance..More then half of the USA are women--Make your voices heard...

Hey Josie- I hope this is just you joking; tell me that's the case.  Please......

Ex- I couldn't agree more, Obama seems like he'd be terrific, but I do wonder if he could get elected; maybe a couple elections down the road would be more likely.  He's still young and will only have had one term as a senator.

Hillary Clinton- I could see her as a good president, but don't know if she could win, she's such a polarizing figure- although she's working really hard to change that.

I gotta say I just don't see anyone coming down the road that really impresses me.  It depresses me that Kerry is seriously considering running again.  I liked Edwards, but kind of think he's had his day.  In my heart, I wish Ted Kennnedy could run.  Of course he can't.

But until someone stands up and tells the truth, talks about how Bush's policies benefit the only the rich at the expense of the poor I'm just waiting.

Another example today- Bush is pushing "tort reform" and selling it as keeping the lawyers from getting rich, which sounds great- I mean who can disagree with keeping lawyers from making so much money.

But what he's actually doing is making sure that his buddies who run the large corporations are limited in how much they can be sued.  So for example, someone who's got cancer due to asbestos, which just happens to be produced by Halliburton, now has a limit on how much they can sue for.  Yes, the lawyers will make less money and that's good.  But who really suffers?  The people who are getting sick or hurt by the actions of the corporations owned by Bush's cronies.   And the corporations are being protected at the expense of the poor and the sick.

We need someone brave enough to talk about the way things really work in this country.  Someone who will clearly explain that Bush's words hide the true nature of what his policies are designed to accomplish.  Until we find that person, I'm just reserving judgement.

Marco

Why would I be joking?  Bill O'Reilly is my imaginary boyfriend, so if he becomes the next president, I'll be the imaginary first mistress.  How cool is that?

Hey Sue- thanks, but I'd be a lousy politician and have WAY too many skeletons in my closet.  I can't even get a job working on gov't contracts cuz I'm an addict and therefore can't get a security clearance.  These day you need a security clearance even if your work has nothing to do with anything secret or related to security or anything- just to work on any gov't contract- like the ones I used to work on related to health now require a security clearance.  Wasn't the case pre- 9/11.  I do understand they've got to be careful, but come on- how is my working on a health project going to endanger nat'l security and- why should the fact that I am an addict eliminate me from getting a security clearance anyway.  I'm clean, have been a good boy, but lawyers have told me that there's no way I'd be approved.  Just one of the things that's made my job search so difficult.

But I do appreciate the thought and to be honest I think I could probably do a better job than most of the politicians.  I know that sounds terribly arrogant- but I think most of us could do better than the ones we've got now.

Hey Josie- Bill O'Reilly, your imaginary boyfriend?  Is that with or without the felafel?  The guy, IMO, and my opinion only, is a smug, dishonest, phony, spins-everything, right-wing but pretends he's not, creep.  sorry.

Hey I hear ya Marco.  You r not alone in your job search.  Ever since I lost my job due to methadone, I am having such a hard time finding another one!   I've never, ever had a hard time finding a job if I really wanted one.

I don't know if it's because I'm not so young anymore, or what the deal is but it sure is a big bummer.  Thats why I'm thinking about getting on disability, even I think the checks I'd be getting would be a joke to try and live on.

Thank God for my family, especially my daughter, Robin.  She literally saved my life by showing me how bad I was getting concerning heroin addiction.  She spent a year in Cuba, came back, took one look at me and just went into action!  She helped me.

She is still helping me.  I'd be on the streets for real if it weren't for her letting me stay with her.  I'm so proud of her.  She is not making that much $ either working at Rite Aid drug store ($7 per hour) and she is handling everything!  The rent, the utilities, the cable, the phone bills, cat food (lol my cat eats A LOT) but I just thank God I have her.

I just want a job so bad and it is just wrong that I cant find work.  I'd be willing to work anywhere. And I'm sure my daughter is wishing for a little finacial help around here also.  It's amazing that she doesn't even say anything or complain.  She jokes around and says she so lucky because she has a real 'live-in' maid.  (me!)

oh well.  pray for a job, will ya?  It sucks that people look at things that shouldn't even matter when looking for people to work for them. Security checks and all that crap.  And credit history, a lot of jobs  check credit history!  Bad credit = no job.
How are ya suppose to fix your credit unless you get a job?!  Maybe rob a bank to fix your credit, then you could get a job.   hmmmmmmm.

luv,
sue

*RALPH NADER*

There is a man with integrity, who is not afraid to actually take a stance- an idea foreign to most candidates these days.  He's a man committed to the idea that Americans deserve an actual CHOICE.  Two similar candidates (pro-corporation, pro-war)  from two similar political parties (pro-corporation, pro-war) is no choice at all.  I voted for him last year and I will vote for him again.

In 04 the two candidates (Bush and Bush-lite) not only wouldnt allow Nader into the debates (which is outrageous and unfair; they must have been scared he would actually want to DEBATE an ISSUE...gasp!) but they wouldnt even allow him in the BUILDING, as a spectator in the audience!  The idea of a third party is terrifying to them.

In my humble opinion, we need a third party, a choice, and so that's why I vote for Nader.
