Cheetah:
Speed and Focus

Sometimes it's appropriate to carefully consider all aspects of a plan to achieve a goal. At other times, it's necessary to be flexible and adaptable in revising those plans.

Sometimes, though, the most important thing to do is to act with both speed and focus. The goal is in sight, and only procrastination and/or lack of clarity keeps one from accomplishing it. At such times, Cheetah medicine is extremely valuable.

Unlike other felines, who stalk, then pounce on their prey for the kill, cheetahs, the fastest four-footed animals alive, run down their prey. They can inspire us to accomplish our own goals with speed and focus.

When we feel stuck, cheetah medicine can launch us into motion. If we are moving with great speed but little direction, cheetah energy helps us to keep our eyes on our goals and to find the most direct way of achieving them.

Cheetah has another lesson for those who are good about accomplishing their goals but who may take on too many goals at one time. Though this animal is capable of achieving speeds of up to sixty-three miles per hour, it can only maintain this intensity for a short period of time. Afterwards, it must rest for about fifteen minutes.

This resting behavior teaches us that periods of intense activity should always be followed by a time of rest, relaxation, and contemplation.

Cheetah-

The cheetah looks something like a leopard with black spots all over, but is taller. As the fastest animal in the world, a cheetah can out run almost any other animal, even a gazelle. Cheetahs can be seen roaming the African deserts and savannas looking for a herd of antelope to prey on. It singles one out from the herd and uses its speed to an advantage to run along side until it can bring its prey down.

If cheetah is your animal totem it can teach you a lot about moving out ahead of everyone else by doing what's in front of you. Maybe you need to do your homework before the sun goes down. "Get it done", says Cheetah so you will have some daylight play with your friends. Cheetah may mention that you waste too much energy thinking and wishing when you need to get up and go. Is it that you are lazy or are you just stubborn? Or is it you don't believe in yourself enough? Believe that you have the power of a Cheetah and you will surely attain your goals.

Whatever the task Cheetah's message is quick action is best or the opportunity might slip away. You will be disappointed if you don't at least give it a try. Is there a contest you want to enter and the deadline is today? Get your entry into the mail. Or your chances of winning are gone. Life is full of deadlines. Don't let the pressure get to you. But real life sometimes doesn't give you a second chance.
