Animal Power Dreams

Have you ever had a dream about a bear or another wild animal? Maybe it chased you in a forest or maybe it showed up snarl at you in your own living room.

Almost everyone has had a dream about a wild animal. But most kids and even grownups are afraid that its power will hurt them. They may run and hide in the dream or scream thinking that they just had a horrible nightmare.

The elders say that you will have a dream someday where you will meet your animal ally. He may tease you at first chasing you for a ways until he gets your attention. If you let him catch up to you, you will be surprised that he only wants you to honor him as a special friend. And he may have a lot to show you and teach you in the end.

In this dream, your animal may take you on a journey to a special place in nature. Or it may show up in your own backyard to greet you. You can ride on its back as it travels to show you beautiful places that you would never get to visit in your real life.
Never be afraid of a wild animal in your dream, because it can give you power that could protect you when you really need it. Power to help you overcome your fears and the courage you need to succeed. Some animals bring healing power when you are sick. And guidance that will make you a better person with your friends. Native American Indians teach that animal spirits bring "great medicine" for your soul, through your dreams. Medicine to heal your spirit and make you feel alive in your heart. Learn to trust the power of the animal who ventures into your dreams as sacred. It will protect and guide you in the future.

Write down your special animal power dream in a special notebook or journal and share it with your parents and closest friends. They will honor you for your special dream and the close kinship that you developed with your ally. Then draw a picture of your animal ally. Or cut out a picture from a magazine and put it over your bed. This will remind everyone that your animal is around and it will call him back into your dreams at night. You may have several animal allies who might come into your dreams in fact. This is very likely. Most kids have three or four animal allies that are with them when they begin the journey of life and they dream about them often. Think about what animal you like the most and I bet one will come into your dreams as soon as tomorrow.
