Eagle

The eagle is a majestic bird that soars freely in the skies above earth's most sacred land and wilderness areas. In North America there are two distinct species of eagles, the golden and the bald. The bald eagle with its white feathered head has a wingspread of up to seven feet, while the Golden is uniform in color and smaller. Both have strong talons, which they use to grasp and capture their prey. They hunt during the day for fish and small mammals. North American Indians honored eagle as Kwiki and used its down feathers in a most sacred ceremony to bless the totem pole. Eagle was their protector, watchman and guide. Plain Indians used its sacred wing feathers to celebrate Great Spirit in ceremonies. They sent their prayer for peace and abundant times to God on the wings of eagle. They realized that eagle was a messenger sent by Great Spirit to improve their culture.
If eagle is your totem it comes to strengthen your relationship with Great Spirit, the one who created you. Teaching you that Great Spirit will take your prayers seriously. Eagle may frequently enter your dreams teaching you to fly with him on journeys to beautiful places and magical worlds. Eagle teaches you that you can soar up and away from the pressures that keep you tied up and afraid. Too much homework? "Lift off and soar above it all", says eagle. Eagle wants you to have an eagle eye view of the problems in your life. Small problems can seem like big ones when you are in the middle of them. From eagle's view you can see how big or small your problems really are. He teaches you that you can take care of the small ones with help, but that the big ones you will have to let go of. Perhaps you are afraid of ugly world events that you see on TV and that your parents talk about. You probably wish that you and everyone on earth had a safe and peaceful world to play on. It is not your job to try to save the world or even your family during hard times. Great Spirit's help is what you need. Eagle will take your prayers for better times to Great Spirit.
