Egret
The white feathered friend of cattle, the Egret is a migratory bird that is often seen on the backs of animals catching a ride and looking for food. They enjoy the company of cattle, elephants, hippo, zebra, giraffe, and waterbuck. They establish a bond that serves both the Egret and the animal host. While the animal is grazing the Egret is ready to catch a fly, a moth, or an earthworm or two. It relies on the host animal for a good food supply and the host likes the fact that the pests are kept down to a minimum.
If Egret is your totem, you are likely to be shown how you share your heart and energy with others who are close to you whether you know it or not. Egret says, " everyone shares energy, good and bad. But some do it more than other's because they are connected in a special way, soul to soul." You may have a special friend or a close relative that is sapping your strength and not letting you hold onto your own light. This can be harmful to you. Egret reminds you never to feel overly responsible for other's negative emotions. You do not have to pick off their negative attitudes and put them on your back in order to be a friend. If someone you know is always asking you for advice or suffering around you when you are having fun, never interrupt yourself from enjoying your day. You may need Egret to force you to continue to play and not let others steal your precious time and energy. Egret will help you find a way to stay clear of energy vampires and to remind you that your light belongs in your heart until you are ready to share it.
