Fox
Fox is a canine and so belongs to the dog family. Some are gray and others deep red in color. They have a pointed snout and a puffy long tail. Most fairytales tell us fox is sly, cunning and devious, but the truth is Fox is more shy and timid than bold. Fox is surely intelligent though. It's keen hearing, sight, and sense of smell can track small rodents like rabbit, mouse and squirrel down with just a little chase. Fox migrates in the fall, gives birth in the spring and settles down hibernating in the winter. Fox is an animal of all seasons and follows the cycles of its climate.
When Fox is you totem you are surely meant to be intelligent. Fox may tell you it is always good to think things out with a clear mind. Solving problems is your lesson in life. Solving them before you loose control of a difficult situation may challenge you at times. But Fox teaches you to be clever. Whether you are the studious type, doing well in school, or not, is not what Fox is concerned with. Fox wishes you to be street smart or smart about life in general. Never put yourself in harms way. Retreat into your foxhole when you are confronted with a dangerous situation or tempted by someone else with ugly ideas about what you should do with your time. Sometimes street smart means getting off the streets entirely.
Fox also can demonstrate how things change in your environment when the time is right without pushing the river. Bad times turn to good times just by waiting for a change. Fox will point to the cycles of weather and the subtle changes that nature goes through with the changing seasons. Why? Because Fox wants you to appreciate your connection to nature and the seasons and to know your life has rhythms too. Breathing the cold air at winter in the woods will set you straight to know you are connected to nature. Fox may come into your dream to announce when the first snow is about to fall or when spring is about to erupt. You won't need a weather report to know when you have a free snow day either. You can tune in with your heart and read the signs of the nature.
