Hawk
Gray, red shouldered and red tailed hawks are some of the varieties of hawks in the Americas. They are top predators in the food chain, and eat almost any available reptile, amphibian, bird, mammal or insect. They are supreme hunters and are often seen perched on a tree or along the roadside on a telephone pole scanning the horizon for prey. They like canyons, mountains as well as flatlands and clearings. On a momentous occasion, Hawk may appear in the sky of the most densely populated city. You may see hawk swoop down after circling the sky several times. They enjoy their flight gliding on the air streams and performing as if they are writing in the sky.
If hawk is your totem you have the good fortune of communicating with Great Spirit's messenger. He may come to you often on road trips with your family to acquaint you with the best look points in nature's beautiful preserve or in a dream to bring you an important message. Hawk usually has good news and can arrive to signal a new beginning or to announce a special event. Maybe you're going to have a great teacher next year who you can really relate to. Or maybe a childhood friend of your Dad's is coming for a visit, who will tell you what your dad was like as a kid. Be ready to learn something new. Everyone who steps into your life is a teacher of some sort. Some will improve you because they have a big heart and can give you good advice or understanding. Others will teach you not to believe what others tell you, because they set bad example by telling lies. Know life is your best teacher and no matter how many times someone tells you to behave, you may have to learn for yourself what the consequences are. Hawk may circle the sky three times and speak to your heart when you have been praying for something. He wants you to know that when you expect good news, it will usually happen the way you imagined.
If you are like hawk, you will have plenty of messages for others in your life too. Your personality enjoys communicating wisdom to others either by counseling them or through writing. The best storytellers and writers have hawk by their side.
