Horse

Horses are lean and strong four legged animals whose origins date back over 5,000 years in a place called Mongolia. In the beginning horses ran free in their herds much like some do now where nature supports their freedom. Some say they were brought to the Americas by the Spanish and turned loose to freely roam America's plains and canyons to graze on grasslands. They soon became the companions and champions of man helping man travel long distances to hunt for food. The varieties have been bred for centuries as riding, show, race and workhorses. They have been a humble servant of humans often carrying a heavy load in human evolution, as when they were expected to carry soldiers into war.
But if horse is your animal medicine, you must respect horse as a gentle teacher who will help you move out into the world a little bit more each and every day. Horse wants you to grow and develop your intelligence. He may lead you forward in your life to help you achieve through your own determination to get the move along at your own pace and earn the respect you deserve. Horse won't let you stand alone. It will nudge you forward to join with friends who share things in common with you. Horse has a great deal of power and teaches you about your own personal power. Horse wants you to develop a strong will. Even if it means going against the grain of what others want you to do or accomplish. Horse tells you that you are free to choose you life course. Don't let others lead you around by the nose or by the reins. Respect yourself. Respect is one of horse's biggest lessons for you. Earn others respect by offering yourself as a leader and give respect to those who serve you. Strength is another lesson horse may lead you towards. It takes strength to stand in your power in a power struggle and to just say no to whoever wants to steal your dreams from you. Those with horse as a totem can accomplish a lot because they enjoy hard work. Enjoying what you do merits success. Working hard as a team can add to the enjoyment and gets the job done even faster.
