Opossum

A possum is marsupial which means it has a pouch to carry its young. Once the baby possums are a little older the mom carries them on her back. They are nocturnal animals coming out to hunt at night while preferring a good hiding place to rest during the day. A resourceful animal at finding food in the most unusual spots, it can even be found in a city dumpster scavenging for food. Possum prefers to hide out for protection, but if they are threatened they will play dead in a very convincing way.
Possum will be your guide to remind you that family is everything. They are very good at nursing their young along and demonstrate how you can give a little love to your little sister or brother more often. "Pay attention to your family", says possum. Get close and cuddle up. Possum knows where to look to find what it needs to survive. But it shares everything. Learn from possum and share your box of popcorn or your favorite toy with the younger ones in your family. You will be remembered as the brother or sister who cared.
If you are like possum you will like to go unnoticed and hide out under a shady tree alot. "It isn't necessary to have attention 24 hours a day", says possum. Respect for others private space and time is a good thing to consider. Is someone trying to give you the message to stop bugging them. Respect them. Maybe your older sister is trying to get her homework done and you are in the way. Or your dad is spending special time with your older brother cause he really needs it. Respect that others need their time too, to do what they want to do. It isn't necessary for you to try to pull them away to do what you want. You can find something else to occupy your time.
Possum will also teach you that on occasion it is wise to play dead. Maybe someone is threatening or bullying you. And they are two feet taller. No use getting beat up. Walk away and never mind confronting them with the same amount of anger. If it continues you can ask your parents to do something about it.
