Wow... "The Way of a Pilgrim"
I have had this book for about 10 years and never read it till today.
I was sitting on the couch contemplating my gratitude when I felt a pull to one of my bookshelves. I got up and instantly landed on it. What a beautiful story.
It was written by a man who calls himself the pilgrim. It was first published in 1884 in Russia. It's chronicles follow the author (the pilgrim) as he travels through mid-nineteenth century Russia and Siberia, visiting monasteries and the shrines of the saints in order to "pray without ceasing." His journey leads him to a starets, a Russian spiritual master who teaches him the spiritual discipline known as the Jesus Prayer- the uninterrupted mantra-like invocation of the name of Jesus. It brings to the West the soul of Eastern Christianity.
It has brought so much beautiful, simple insight that we seem to forget completely about as we get older. It answers a number of big questions as well as some incredible metaphysical happenings that most of here on this site know all about in one way or the other....Just lovely.
If you want your heart to soar and your soul to sing...check it out.
Blessings and then some more, Beck
