Hoping someone can help here, I am looking for Rosehips, or rather, advice on them, I have searched on net, and understand they come from the Dogwood Rose, but the hips on my plants are green, looking for red ones, so my question is do they turn red with age, or is there a certain species that produces red hips?
Thanks in advance Blessings, Love & Light Mystical Unicorn |

Mystical Unicorn,
Its to my understanding that the rose hips you use as an herb do come from a specific species of rose. There are many commercial kinds you would find in most garden centers. Those are not used for medicinal purposes. I dont know offhand the species name for the rose plant. Give me a day or two and I will get back with you. As far as the hips being green, they do turn color once they have produced seed and have dried. If you are planning to use the rose hips for other purposes than any rose plant will do. Hope the information helps and that I have answered your questions. Nesting |
