These are 3 poems I wrote about memories from my childhood of places that were very special to me.
playhouse 4-99
acropolis distant settlement rising from the ashes of past disputes
giving harbor to idle wanderers a dreamers domain furnished to exalt the wonders and boundaries of life preparing the escapees with countless battles in a fixture of imagination
Trek in Time 4-99
the rains cease excitement prevails the smell of life revived
the trek begins on to the gully a mile away down the dirt road across the fence the tall grass covered knee deep in rain water
minnows dropped from the sky scurry from our seeking hands our conversation devoid of meaning the ravine awaits
alas we run the sight of the overflow quickens the pace the tiny pond transformed we leap in awe of the deluge
time stands still for the moment
Live Oak 4-99
Magnificent roam for the children be the giant old arms of the live oak tree
sprawling retreat for the imagination children search for a foothold to huddle deep in the heart hoping to hide from the days routine
with the agility of the ageless they scurry from giant limb to giant limb making plans
the inception of the seeds of destiny planted in the loving arms of the live oak
