Hi Lissa, there are many books out on the traditional hands on postitions in Reiki and also the info is all over the net.

 

Where you given a reason for holding your hands just above?

 

I may hold my hands above a position, if its a personal area, the area is tender to touch or to tone down the energy/heat for the person.

 

I do feel its very important to work intuitively as Dr Mikao Usui did and also to be comfortable in the posititions you are using. To me to hold you hands just above a person in each position which on average is around 3 to 5 minutes, this is going to become very uncomfortable for the person giving Reiki. A full treatment can be as long as a hour, so unless you have strong arms to hold your hands above a person without support, it is going to get uncomfortable, which is not the focus on giving or recieving a Reiki treatment.

 

I do have my doubts on everyone actually being attuned to Reiki through long distance attunements. I am not saying it cant be done, however a person these days can become a Master/teacher in one weekend, it doesnt mean they have any hands on exprience.  

 

There are many many different vibrations and frequencies we can tap into. Any one can learn to tap into the Universal life force energy or devine source to channel or draw from this energy for there own healing or in helping another in there healing process. The two most important ingrediants I feel is intention and unconditional love. By tapping into these two compondents you are on your way in the healing process. By opening your self up to having the intention and desire to be a healer, even if you do not recieve the long distance reiki attunement, you have opened your self to tap into universal life force energy.

 

Reiki have its own vibration or frequency as does each symbol that is used in this techique and other techique's. You may have not tuned into the Reiki frequency but by opening your heart and having the intention to work with Universal life force energy and tapping into the Devine Source you have the ability to be a healing channel, this is for each and everyone of us "our right"  for we are a fragment or extenstion of the God Source.

 

What this planet is needing, is many Healers, many lightworkers and you have made that personal step towards Oneness.

There are many forms or techniques of energy healing, Reiki is just one of them.

 

Reiki is the one I am most familar with and work with. It is also one of the more known styles as well due to it being easily accessible :)

 

I do beleive it should be taught in person and the attunements recieved in person one to one. Otherwise I question if you have truely recieved the Reiki initiations.

 

However each and everyone can tap into life force energy and either channel or run energy. Each and everyone of us can be a energy worker if we have the desire and intention to be one.

 

The greatest teacher being God/Spirit/Source and listening to our very own intuition  :)

Hi fwa, what a wonderful post. I enjoyed reading your post, you have a wonderful way of writting and putting your words together :)

 

I also am a Reiki Master in two methods and Reiki II in another method which at present I am going through the training for my masters, this will take about a year :)

 

My lastest experiment if thats how to word it, was going sending a long distance treatment back in time.

 

It was validated this could be down. I still have to do more study on understaying time and space and not working in linear time. I guess this is bringing the quantum into reiki :)

Hello Misty and fellow Reiki Healers,

 

It is so nice to read about other people's experiences of Reiki, I follow the Usui Reiki  at level 2..

 

I live in a rural area and had to travel to Birmingham at City about 120miles from where I live to take Reiki 1 & 2..I was lucky I was able to stay with my Aunt and Uncle who lived nearby..

 

I had been doing natural healing for about 6 years..where I did not touch the body, just gave healing through energy scanning of the body..I always wanted to do Reiki as I had heard many good things about it..and the principals seemed the same as the natural healing I had developed on my own..

 

My problem was that I lived so far away from the people I had, had my attunements with and my Reiki Master Teacher, Dr Elizabeth Childs..I could communicate via the internet..but the Reiki Share group did not communicate this way..I could just send one off emails, if I was worried about anything..as you know, when you first receive your attunments, the change in the bodys energy can be quite dramatic..and lots of things can crop up, that you might just want a reassuring chat about..I took my Reiki 2 a month after my mother died..I wondered wether it was the right thing to do..but was told by my teacher, that if it was meant to be it would be..and if I truely wanted to do it..then to continue..so I did..but I must admit I probably did not enjoy it as much as Reiki 1, I also had raging Cystitus..I was determined to do it..I felt as if I was being tested almost..and it was a test of my committment..I was committed..

 

The problem I have, is the lack of like minded people to share with..I would like to set up my own practise..but I am a little at a loss of how to go about it..I would also like to go on and do Reiki 3 and I do understand, that I would have to keep case records..and take part in Reiki Shares, overseen by my Master or a Reiki Master, but  she is so far away..I don't think it is likely to happen..I to believe that the attunements should take place in person..I found it a truely beautiful experience and made me cry..I felt as if there was something so profoundly moving about it and it felt very familiar..my problem isn't neccessarily going for the 2 day course...it is all the follow up work that goes with it..how could I do that from a distance, do you know.?

 

And I miss not receiving Reiki myself..I do do self Reiki, and it is reasonable effective..must I miss, that sharing with other Reiki Healers..I would imagine Lissa finds that very hard..as she too seems to be in a remote area..

Hi misty I have been attuned distantly, although I have had experienced hands on too. I would say that it depends on the master that attunes you. My master that attuned me distantly I felt suited me better. At the monent of attunement I felt the energy come into and around me, unfortunately when hands on I wasn't as comfortable maybe something in me.

 

I took reiki 1 in may and just completed reiki 2 a few weeks ago. Before reiki I used to tap into universal energy for healing, The difference I have found between the way I used to channel energy and using reiki is that the reiki energy is more subtle. It is also easier to direct that energy to the area needed. I do not lay hands on my subject but hold my hands a few inches away from the body, I do this so that I can feel the energy transfer it works for me. As if I place my hands on the body the heat created from the exhange of energy can be attributed to the actual contact with the body, whereas if my hands are not touching the body the patient/client feels the energy exchange. But as you know reiki continues to work on the body even after treatment some of my clients find the benefit happens 2 or 3 days later, all have validated the healing. So I would say that distant attunement does work as reiki is energy like spirit  can be done from any distance. We connect with spirit when we do readings over the net what difference is there with healing energy or reiki energy if you say one does not work over the net then how does the other.

Hi kingfisher, this was a interesting post and thankyou for sharing your experince here.

 

I liked your reasoning for working in the auric fields however also remember energy is mot limited to the area of where the hands are places and senstations travel.

 

Its so wonderful to get feedback to know it actually works, I still am amazed when people give feedback of positive changes or experinces they have.

 

I really appreicated your posting and what you had to share especially in recieving long distant attunments

i have done reiki 1 and 2  both of them by distance and found out i needed more info so i did it locally too...

i used it on amit alot for him to pass his schools exams....

and it worked... and sometimes i do it on myself...

i have also done some quantum touch,,,

I am a Reiki Level 2  practioner & I do believe in the hands on treatment. I can truly say Reiki has changedmy life for the better 100%. I do believe in hands on treatment & if there is any worry of touching someone in a inappropriate place- have no fear-you can place your hands anywhere & it will travel to where it is needed. It is an amazing feeling when receiving Reiki - the heat of the hands is phenomenal & I always feel super charged and so at peace when done.
