Lay down Lay down Lay your sweet lovely on the ground Lay your love on the track We're gonna break the monster's back Yes we are Lay down your treasure Lay it down now brother You don't have time For a jealous lover
As you enter this life I pray you depart With a wrinkled face And a brand new heart
I don't know if I can take it I'm not easy on my knees Here's my heart you can break it
I need some release, release, release
We need Love and peace Love and peace
Lay down Lay down your guns All your daughters of Zion All your Abraham sons
I don't know if I can make it I'm not easy on my knees Here's my heart and you can break it I need some release, release, release
We need Love and peace Love and peace
Baby don't fight We can talk this thing through It's not a big problem It's just me and you You can call or I'll phone The TV is still on But the sound is turned down And the troops on the ground Are about to dig in
And I wonder where is the love? Where is the love? Where is the love? Where is the love? Love and peace
I don't know about anyone else, but I really like the funkiness of this song. There is just something that grabs me and makes me want to have another listen.
I get the feeling that the song is about conflict. The war maybe? The peace process in Northern Ireland? Or personal conflict could be involved as well.
Any way you look at it, the song is fantastic. All the songs on this album are growing on me more and more as I play them. I can't wait for the tour to see how they evolve live.
I LISTENED TO THE ALBUM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. ALL THE SONGS R GREAT!!! THIS SONG IS AWSOME! IT REMINDS ME OF THE 60'S WHEN ALL PEOPLE TALKED ABOUT WAS LOVE AND PEACE!!!
Yeah, I love the good old grindin' blue funky guitars and drums. Bono lets it all out. This is about the Iraq thing, Northern Ireland, the Sudan, Palestine, or about any other senseless conflict that keeps humanity from progressing. Just think about how much time and money we waste on war. NOT TO MENTION THE WASTE OF PEOPLE!!! I am sure gonna get up and sing loud and dance when U2 plays this one! They should release it as a single.
